# Search Experience Optimization (SXO) — Quire Guide

**Scope:** 4 representative English guide pages, chosen to cover the intent mix described in
the brief (branded how-to, branded account/settings, and two broader "template" concept pages
with strong non-branded competition).

| # | Page | URL | Intent type |
|---|------|-----|-------------|
| 1 | Add Tasks & Subtasks | `/guide/add-task/` | Branded how-to (navigational + informational) |
| 2 | Basic Account Settings | `/guide/basic-account-settings/` | Branded how-to / account support |
| 3 | Agile Scrum Template | `/guide/agile-scrum/` | Broad concept + "template" (mostly non-branded) |
| 4 | Customer Relationship Pipeline Template | `/guide/customer-relationship-pipeline/` | Broad concept + "template" (mostly non-branded) |

**Method:** Pages fetched with `render_page.py --mode auto` (all four resolved as static/non-SPA,
`mode_used: raw`) and parsed with `parse_html.py`. SERP behavior assessed via Google web search
for one representative query per page. Taxonomy: `page-type-taxonomy.md`; user stories:
`user-story-framework.md`; persona rubric: `persona-scoring.md` (all from the seo-sxo skill).

## Headline Finding: A Branded/Non-Branded Split in Page-Type Fit

The four pages split cleanly into two groups, and the split matters more than any single
page's individual score:

- **Branded how-to pages (add-task, basic-account-settings)** are the type of query where
Quire's own doc IS the expected answer. Google returns Quire's guide pages directly, and the
page's existing FAQPage schema + step-oriented H2/H3 structure already resembles what Google
synthesizes into its answer. These are **ALIGNED**, with only tactical gaps.
- **Broad "template" concept pages (agile-scrum, customer-relationship-pipeline)** target
queries ("agile scrum project management template", "CRM pipeline template") where Google's
top 10 is dominated by dedicated **template-gallery / landing pages** (Smartsheet, ClickUp,
Miro, Trello, Asana, monday.com, Orangescrum) — not narrative product guides. Quire's guide
pages read as a feature tour of the product ("Understand Agile Basics" → "Set up your
workflow in Quire" → "Use Features and Integrations") rather than as a template the visitor
can preview and copy in one click. This is a **CRITICAL / HIGH page-type mismatch**, and it is
consistent with these two pages not appearing in the sampled top-10 results at all for their
  core non-branded query.

This is the primary finding — lead recommendations from this mismatch, not from minor on-page
polish.

## Per-Page Analysis

### 1. `/guide/add-task/` — "how to add a task in Quire"

**SERP consensus:** Quire's own guide page ranks #1. Supporting results are all Quire-owned
(`/tutorial`, `/guide/my-tasks/`, `/blog/...`, community forum). Google's synthesized answer
combines: keyboard shortcut (T), the `+` icon, Tree view (Enter / Shift+Enter), Detail Panel,
**Kanban board "Add tasks" button**, and quick-add syntax (`<date>`, `@assignee`, `#tag`).

**Target page classification:** Hybrid (Service + Content) / how-to guide. Matches SERP
dominant type. **Mismatch severity: ALIGNED.**

**Gaps vs. the SERP's own answer:**
- The page's H2/H3 set (`Add a Task` → `In the Workspace`, `Sibling Task in Tree View`, `In the
Detail Panel`) does **not cover the Kanban Board "Add tasks" flow** that Google's synthesis
surfaces from Quire's own ecosystem (tutorial/board pages). A user landing via this query in
Board view finds no matching section.
- No quick-add syntax (`<date>`, `@assignee`, `#tag`) is documented on this page, despite it
being part of the answer Google assembles from Quire's own content elsewhere.
- No `HowTo` schema despite the content being entirely procedural (5 `<ol>` blocks); only
  `WebSite`, `Organization`, and `FAQPage` schema are present.
- 1 of 8 images has no `alt` text.
- No embedded video, despite Quire's own YouTube channel and a separate "Quire Tutorial" page
ranking alongside this guide — video-capable searchers are pushed off-page.

**Gap-analysis score (100 pts):** Page Type 13/15 · Content Depth 10/15 (missing Board-view
method) · UX 11/15 · Schema 10/15 (no HowTo) · Media 9/15 (no video, 1 missing alt) · Authority
12/15 · Freshness 6/10 → **71/100**

---

### 2. `/guide/basic-account-settings/` — "how to reset Quire password"

**SERP consensus:** Quire's own pages dominate: `/guide/basic-account-settings/`,
`/guide/locked-out-account/`, and `/r/forgot` all appear for overlapping password queries. No
third-party competitors are relevant (this is a purely navigational/branded support query).

**Target page classification:** Hybrid / account-support how-to. **Mismatch severity: ALIGNED.**
The page's own FAQ text ("Go to quire.io/r/forgot, enter your registered email address...")
almost exactly mirrors the answer Google assembles — this is the best-aligned page in the sample.

**Gaps:**
- The fix for a locked-out/forgotten-password scenario is **split across two guide pages**
(`basic-account-settings` and `locked-out-account`) that compete for the same query intent
rather than one page owning the "I can't log in" journey end-to-end. A user who lands on
`basic-account-settings` for a forgotten-password query gets a partial answer and must find
  the other page.
- Same schema/media gaps as above: no `HowTo` schema, 1 of 12 images missing `alt` text, no
  video.

**Gap-analysis score:** Page Type 13/15 · Content Depth 11/15 · UX 12/15 (clear H2/H3 per
setting) · Schema 10/15 · Media 9/15 · Authority 12/15 · Freshness 6/10 → **73/100**

---

### 3. `/guide/agile-scrum/` — "agile scrum project management template"

**SERP consensus:** Top 10 dominated by dedicated template-gallery pages: Smartsheet ("Free
Scrum Templates in Multiple Formats"), ClickUp, Miro, Orangescrum, StarAgile, TimeCamp. Common
format: multiple downloadable/duplicable template *types* (Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog,
Scrum Board, Burndown Chart) presented side by side, each with a preview image and a low-friction
"use/download this template" CTA. Quire's own guide page **did not appear in the sampled top 10**
for this non-branded query.

**Target page classification:** Blog Post / feature-tour Hybrid page (H2s: "Understand Agile and
Scrum Basics" → "Set Up Your Agile Workflow in Quire" → "Use Features and Integrations for
Agile"). SERP dominant type: **Comparison/Tool-adjacent Template Gallery.**
**Mismatch severity: CRITICAL.**

**Specific gaps:**
- No template preview image or board screenshot positioned as the primary content object — the
page treats the template as a footnote of a longer explainer.
- The one and only path to actually get the template ("Visit the Agile Quire project at
quire.io/w/Quire_Agile and duplicate it") is buried inside the FAQ's last answer, not a
prominent CTA button near the top of the page.
- No breakdown of individual template variants (Backlog view, Sprint Board, Standup Board) as
separately presented, previewable template each — competitors present 3–5 distinct templates
  per page.
- No `HowTo`, `ItemList`, or `SoftwareApplication`/`CreativeWork` schema to help this page compete
  as a template listing.

**Gap-analysis score:** Page Type 4/15 · Content Depth 9/15 · UX 8/15 · Schema 8/15 · Media 6/15
· Authority 10/15 · Freshness 6/10 → **51/100**

---

### 4. `/guide/customer-relationship-pipeline/` — "CRM pipeline template"

**SERP consensus:** Trello, Pipedrive, Asana, monday.com, Teamwork, Close, OnePageCRM — all
template-landing pages leading with a visual pipeline-stage preview (e.g., Incoming → Leads →
Contacted → Proposal → Closed) and a one-click "use template"/"get template" CTA, often with
spreadsheet or board download options. Quire's page **did not appear in the sampled top 10**.

**Target page classification:** Blog Post / narrative how-to (H2s: "Set Up Your Customer
Database" → "Build Your Sales Pipeline View" → "Manage Customer Information" → "Organize and
Segment Customers" → "Capture Customer Data Automatically"). SERP dominant type: **Template
Landing Page.** **Mismatch severity: HIGH** (shortest, thinnest page in the sample at 520 words,
compounding the mismatch).

**Specific gaps:**
- No visual preview of the actual pipeline board (stage columns, sample cards) — the exact asset
  every ranking competitor leads with.
- The template link (`quire.io/w/Quire_CRM_Pipeline`, "duplicate to your workspace") is again
buried in the final FAQ answer instead of a top-of-page CTA.
- Thinnest content of the four pages sampled (520 words vs. 646–860 for the others), despite
targeting a more competitive, template-gallery-style SERP that rewards richer visual content.
- No `HowTo`/template schema.

**Gap-analysis score:** Page Type 6/15 · Content Depth 10/15 · UX 8/15 · Schema 8/15 · Media 7/15
· Authority 10/15 · Freshness 6/10 → **55/100**

## SXO Gap Score

| Page | Score |
|------|-------|
| add-task | 71/100 |
| basic-account-settings | 73/100 |
| agile-scrum | 51/100 |
| customer-relationship-pipeline | 55/100 |
| **Average (SXO Gap Score)** | **~63/100** |

This is separate from, and should not be confused with, the site's SEO Health Score. The branded
how-to cluster is performing reasonably (~72 avg); the "template" concept-page cluster is where
the site is structurally losing to third-party template galleries (~53 avg).

## User Stories (derived from SERP signals)

1. **As a user mid-task in Kanban Board view** searching "how to add a task in Quire", I want the
exact Board-view method, because I'm already in that view and don't want to switch context,
but I'm blocked because the guide's H2/H3 structure only documents Tree View and Detail Panel
methods. *(Signal: Google's synthesized answer for this query includes a Kanban "Add tasks"
button method sourced from Quire's own ecosystem that the target guide page omits.)*
   — Consideration/action stage.

2. **As a user locked out of Quire**, I want one page that resolves my exact login problem
(forgotten password vs. changed email domain vs. simple password change), because I need back
in urgently, but I'm blocked by the fix being split across `basic-account-settings` and
`locked-out-account`, two pages competing for the same intent. *(Signal: both URLs appear for
   overlapping password/login queries.)* — Decision/urgent-action stage.

3. **As a Scrum team lead** searching "agile scrum project management template", I want to
   preview and instantly duplicate a ready-made backlog/sprint/standup board, because I don't
want to build the structure myself, but I'm blocked by Quire's page reading as a feature tour
with the "duplicate this template" link buried in an FAQ answer instead of a prominent CTA.
*(Signal: Smartsheet, ClickUp, Miro, Orangescrum all lead with downloadable/duplicable
templates and preview images above the fold.)* — Consideration/decision stage.

4. **As a sales rep** researching "CRM pipeline template", I want to see a visual preview of
pipeline stages before committing to a tool, because I'm comparing several lightweight
options, but I'm blocked by Quire's page having no stage-by-stage visual preview, only
narrative setup instructions. *(Signal: Trello, monday.com, Asana, Teamwork all lead with a
visual board preview.)* — Awareness/consideration stage.

5. **As a time-pressured existing user** who just wants "how do I reset my Quire password"
answered in one glance, I get a good outcome today: the page's own FAQ text almost exactly
mirrors the answer Google assembles for this query. *(Signal: Google's synthesized answer for
this query is near-verbatim to the guide's own FAQPage answer text.)* — Awareness stage; cited
as a working example, not a gap.

## Persona Scoring

| Persona | Relevance /25 | Clarity /25 | Trust /25 | Action /25 | Total | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frustrated Existing User (branded task/settings queries) | 22 | 20 | 18 | 17 | 77/100 | Good |
| Locked-Out User (login/password urgency) | 18 | 14 | 16 | 15 | 63/100 | Good (borderline) |
| Scrum Team Lead / Template Shopper | 10 | 9 | 12 | 8 | 39/100 | **Critical Mismatch** |
| Sales Rep / CRM Template Shopper | 12 | 10 | 12 | 9 | 43/100 | Needs Work |
| Visual Learner (expects embedded tutorial video) | 14 | 12 | 14 | 10 | 50/100 | Needs Work |

### Weakest Persona: Scrum Team Lead / Template Shopper (39/100)
**Top issue:** The page is structured as an explanatory feature tour, not as a template the
visitor can preview and copy. The single path to the actual template is one sentence in the last
FAQ answer.
**Recommended fix:** Add a template preview screenshot and a prominent "Duplicate This Template"
CTA linking to `quire.io/w/Quire_Agile` directly under the H1, mirroring the structure Smartsheet
and ClickUp use for the same query.

### Systemic Issues
- **Schema:** no page in the sample uses `HowTo` schema despite every page being built from
numbered, procedural steps — all rely on `FAQPage` only.
- **Media:** no page embeds video despite Quire's own YouTube channel and tutorial content being
part of the ecosystem that ranks for these same queries; every page has at least one image
  with a missing `alt` attribute.
- **CTA placement:** on both template-oriented pages, the highest-value link (duplicate the
ready-made project) is buried in the final FAQ answer rather than surfaced as a primary CTA.

### Priority Actions
1. Restructure `agile-scrum` and `customer-relationship-pipeline` as template-first pages: lead
with a board/pipeline preview image and a "Use This Template" CTA, then support it with the
existing narrative content below the fold.
2. Add `HowTo` schema to all four pages (and site-wide to any other step-based guide) alongside
   the existing `FAQPage` schema.
3. Consolidate the locked-out/password-reset journey onto a single canonical page, or add clear
cross-linking at the top of both `basic-account-settings` and `locked-out-account` so users
don't have to guess which page has their answer.
4. Add the missing Kanban Board "Add tasks" method to `add-task`, and consider a short embedded
video (from Quire's existing YouTube channel) on task-creation and template pages.

## Limitations

- SERP analysis used `WebSearch` (Google-backed) results and AI-synthesized summaries, not raw
SERP HTML/screenshots. Exact PAA box contents, ad presence, AI Overview citation status, and
precise ranking position for the target pages could not be directly confirmed beyond
presence/absence within the returned result set.
- Only 1 representative query was tested per page (not multiple query variants), and only 4 of
the guide's many pages were sampled — findings on the branded-vs-template split are directional
  for the site, not exhaustive.
- All four pages rendered as static HTML (`mode_used: raw`, not an SPA), so no client-side/JS
rendering discrepancies were found, but this also means no visual/above-the-fold screenshot
verification was performed — media and CTA-placement findings are based on parsed markup order,
  not a rendered visual check.
- Word counts and image/alt-text figures are from `parse_html.py`'s DOM parse of the fetched HTML
and may not reflect any client-side personalization.
- E-E-A-T depth (author expertise, external citations) was not separately scored here; if desired,
run `/seo content` for a deeper pass. Missing `HowTo` schema noted above is a candidate for
  `/seo schema`.
