#1222: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

extra Felder, um Zeit aufzuzeichnen. entweder mit Timer oder durch hinzufügen von einzelnen Zeiten. oder beides

I'm curious @peggy - what are some of the priorities that are higher? The product functions really well, in terms of a basic task list - the timer and the email-to-task are really the two main functions that are lacking in Quire ... so it just make me curious what other items are prioritized higher, if that's information you can share.

any update on topic ?

Carlo Olmo Cianfrone, Dec 27, 2020

Hi, thank you for reply.

I was thinking to see them by task preferably. We can already assign a task to a person, so in this way you could see how much time this person had spent on that task and therefore you could estimate how much time is needed in a similar task. That's my first thought.

And also, in this way, you could take all tasks assigned to a member of a project and add all of them up, showing this sum in his/her profile or something like that. This idea is nice too, but I think the first one is the powerful one for this website.

Hi @macklus , This is close to what we have in mind. We shall consider your suggestions. Let us know if you have any other ideas, thanks! 👍

Peggy, Apr 2, 2019

I would sooo love and use this, right now I'm forced to use 2 different apps for our projects, Quire and https://clockify.me

Should Quire support time tracking -at least like clockify does- I'd immediately ditch them and use Quire exclusively.

PS. One important thing to bear in mind about time tracking is that, if you're going to track time efficiently you'd need multiple trackers running, so that's a must for a good time tracking service.

Harley Cascante, Sep 11, 2018

Hi @Carlo_Olmo_Cianfrone - I’m afraid I don’t have any update to share just yet. I will make sure to update this thread as soon as I do. Thank you for your patience.

Peggy, Dec 28, 2020

⭐️ I have merged your post with this post #2676 already covering this request. Feel free to add your comments to that thread.

@enoma14 integrating with Clockify it would be excellent! But although the Quire API is already available I'm not seen it in Clockify's integration page. Do you know how can I track tasks in Quire using the Clockify Time Tracker, @peggy ?

Lucas Lopes, Jan 10, 2020

Hi @enoma14 , Quire API is already available. Please see here for more information. 🎉

If you have any questions regarding Quire API, kindly head over to Stackoverflow under [quire-api] tag. Because we would like to create a place for our developer's community, then everyone can chime in and provide suggestions and work together.

Peggy, Jan 6, 2020

Hi Harley, Awesome! 😃 By “multiple trackers”, did you mean having multiple timers for each task? If so, any scenario (case) why you need more than one?

Crystal, Sep 12, 2018

Hi all, thanks so much for all the feedback! I have added all your suggestions to our list! @hcascante mentioned Clockify, we get the idea and it’s in our plan to develop a simplified/basic time tracking feature. Some users are maybe looking for a more advanced time tracking feature, they can wait for us to finish opening up API, then they can integrate Quire with other time tracking software in their favor. 👍

Peggy, Apr 9, 2019

Thank you for the quick reply.

Sorry, my English is a bit rough. Initially didn't mean multiple timers for each task. I was referring to the ability of multiple timers to run simultaneously on different tasks (like multitasking but applied to the timers).

...

But! Now that you mention multiple timers for a single task, I think I just found a scenario where it'd be useful: when multiple users are making progress on the same task at once (like when documenting something simple but done by many). I don't know if you already thought of making this possible, but it's a common use case I think my team -and may others- would benefit of.

I'd also love the option to have more control by project. For instance, if I have a project that is preparing a tax return for a company; that project takes 3-6 hours, in total. There might be 45 tasks (to do's) in order to complete that. That project isn't time consuming enough to track time at a task level...I'd like to track it on a project level. Speaking of which, I'd also like to be able to assign an entire project to a person...without trying to assign each task.

Antonio, Apr 5, 2019

One thing I forgot before is that we use to manually set time a lot, may be we've been in a meeting for a project, then went to meet a customer, then to pick some urgent items to our provider. The thing is, you could easily lose track of things and have to manually set times spent on each task later.

So yeah, please include the option to activate manually set time for tasks/projects.

Thank you! =)

We are currently working on open API. Developing a timeline/native calendar feature, integrating with IFTTT are also very important. 😃

Peggy, Jun 13, 2019

Hi @guilledelacruz.ingeniero , We will look into this and add it to our list for timeline/time tracking suggestions. May I ask the time record reports you want to see is by tasks? Or by members? Thanks so much! 😃

Peggy, Apr 2, 2019

We are also evaluating clockify.me I wish an integration

Reza, Oct 29, 2019

Hi Harley, No worries. Ah I see. Can be useful when multiple people are assigned to a task. Will pass your suggestion to the team. 😃

Crystal, Sep 14, 2018

any update on this ? it becomes really important for me.

JPA, May 21, 2019

As Macklus stated, tasks could be assigned to several users therefore, time tracking should always start with the user, then the team, the task, project, etc.

I know I'm about to showcase the competition here, but I've used Clockify and the principle is something like this:

  1. User time.
  2. Task time.
  3. User time by task.
  4. Team time by task.
  5. Project time.
  6. User time by project (and client).
  7. Team time by project (and/or client).
  8. Etc.

You guys get the idea. All those metrics are cross-referenced and evaluated, giving as a result the base to a more complex metric and so on. This they (Clockify) do well a so could you , specially at this point where there still time for planning.

To be fair though, Quire does not need to be that specific, but it would be nice to have at least time tracking by: user, task (one user and many users), and by project (same way as task).

To summarize, the key principle is to start from the ground up, first the user, and then everything else on top, layer by layer of complexity.

Hope it helps. Thank you for caring and taking our opinions Quire team!

Harley Cascante, Apr 4, 2019

Thanks @peggy ! Appreciate the update. I suppose for my usecase, I'll need to wait until a time field or custom fields come along.

Enoma Osakue, Jan 7, 2020

beware, a task could be assigned to multiple users, and any user use differents times on resolution. I understood that times on task should record time start, time end and user, so (in a future) we can see:

  • time that user do on project
  • time that project demands etc

thanks!

JPA, Apr 4, 2019

Hi Macklus, sorry, having a timer is still in our plan, but due to our priority keeps changing, as we have other higher priority tasks right now, we haven’t gotten to this yet! 😭

Peggy, May 24, 2019

Hi, I would like to make a suggestion about time tracking too.

I've recently found out about this website, I've been using it for a couple of days and I think it is really great. I have recommended it to other people, especially to those who work with GitHub, it's a really nice feature that kind of software integration.

My only tiny 'problem' is its lack of time tracking features. What I mean is I miss some things like setting the number of hours I've spent in a task or seeing these time records in a graph/diagram, i.e., something like it is done in softwares such as Redmine, but simplified.

I think those couple of features could be really powerful and very attractive tools to those, like myself, who were looking for a software capable of tracking tasks but in a simple and clean way, as it is already this website.

GuilledelaCruz, Mar 31, 2019

My two cents: maybe a Play|stop buttons are enought. Press play to start time record and stop to stop it. Total seconds will be register. I think that no more were neccesary.

JPA, Apr 1, 2019

@lucaslopesf2 someone would need to build an integration into the clockify add-on for your browser. I've looked into the documentation and while it would be convenient if someone who knew Quire better made the integration, a basic one could be done by any developer.

Enoma Osakue, Jan 11, 2020

I'm excited for the API because I think integrations (as opposed to a native time tracker) could be a great solution here. Clockify has a robust set of free tools that would make it a perfect first partner for time tracking integration

Enoma Osakue, Jan 4, 2020

I'd love to see a feature showing a report of the time that tasks spent in the "In Progress" column of a board. Ability to filter the report by project, date and board/column would be great also. It's a very easy way of tracking time if you use kanban.
