#126: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

Hi Quire team,

I have just started out using Quire, and so far, I really like it.

However, for some task, I would like to assign a time period, instead of just a deadline. I.e. when looking at the task overview of one project, I miss the function to assign the duration of a task.

Is there a possibility to do this? Or in case this possibility does not exist, could you integrate this feature?

Thank you very much! Julia

Hi @junafrey, Happy to know you're enjoying Quire! Yes, it's possible to have time periods (aka durations) for tasks. 😃 We'll consider it, but as we're currently busy with the mobile app and other feature updates, we won't get to it till a later date. May I ask for what purpose you need such feature?

Hi @oboblab, That sounds pretty creative! If the feature do come out, we'd love to hear how you'd go from tasks with time periods to a Gantt diagram. 😃

Hi Crystal,

I would like to create overviews of all tasks on a calendar. To plan my time efficiently, I would like to be able to create such an overview, so that I know on what day I should work on which project/task.

E.g. two tasks might have the same deadline, but task 2 can only be completed after task 1. If I could assign durations / time periods to work on these instead of simple deadlines, I could then make a visual representation of my work week.

As for the Gantt diagrams suggested previously: Additional apps can be used to create Gantt charts from Google calendar (e.g. 'gantter' or 'gantify', which I prefer). As Quire can be synced with Google calendar, making a Gantt chart of Quire projects is quite easy, as long as it is possible to assign durations to tasks. (I.e. quire --> google calendar --> gantify the calendar --> done).

Of course... if you could include a Gantt-feature, it would be even easier 😃

Hi Julia, So @junafrey and @oboblab are both you! :D In the example you've mentioned, you know you can organize the order of your tasks right? In other words, drag task 1 to the top, so that you know you have to complete it first. But then again, I know what you meant by a visual representation of your work (eg. Gantt chart). Let's talk about this further in our talk!

Add-on: What I would like to be able to make in the end is a Gantt diagram of all my tasks. This would be possible if I could assign durations to the tasks.

(task duration --> export to Google calendar --> make Gantt diagram)
