I'm using Quire for the first time (I'm already very familiar with Trello and JIRA) and thought I'd use it to manage my forthcoming bathroom refit, so each of my to-do list "tasks" is actually an item (like the shower tray) and in the board I've created statuses Choosing, Ready to order, Ordered, Ready to fit, Fitted, and Completed.
However, there doesn't seem to be any way to make things dependent upon each other nor to visualise the critical path so that it becomes clear what order things need to be fitted in and what can be done in parallel (e.g. floorboards before flooring, tiling after shower tray is fitter, etc). Manually reshuffling things in each column is a workaround but it's not good enough really as it's prone to human error / forgetfulness and only a very simple prioritisation that doesn't help decide what the critical path is or what can be done in parallel.
Or have I missed something? Can you suggest a better way of doing this?
Hi Marcus, we are considering a Gantt chart with task dependencies in the future. If you have one that you prefer, a visual example would be nice! 😃

I'm wondering why subtasks don't work? Flooring is the task and subflooring is the subtask or Shower tray fitted is the task and tilling is the subtask. If Flooring and Shower tray are equal tasks they could be done in parallel and task can't be done until their subtasks are done

Mchelle, I'm suggesting the user pretend a subtask is locked to a task and they pretend a task could not be completed until the subtask is completed, Not suggesting any change to Quire

Hi Ed, There are times that tasks are simply folders or categories of subtasks and that they are not necessary "tasks" that need to be done, so we prefer to keep the options open (not to "restrict" the users).
