When viewing records in a database (such as tasks in Quire) there are 3 distinct ways to manipulate the data:
- Grouping
- Filtering
- Sorting
And it's useful to be able to do multiple layers/conditions of each. For example:
"Group by _____, then by _____, then by _____, ..."
"Sort by _____, then by _____, then by _____, ..."
"Filter by: _____ AND (_____ OR _____)" (nested boolean statements)
One program I've used that does a pretty good job of this with a GUI is AirTable.
Three distinct options

Multiple levels of grouping

Multiple layers of sorting

Multiple filters

I would love to see similar functionality in Quire. Right now, these different functions are mixed up amongst each other in the same menu.

I realize that creating a GUI menu that allows for complex and nested boolean filtering statements is difficult and would probably confuse most people, but a basic one would be very helpful as well.
Hi Wayne, thank you for the visuals. I shall pass the idea to our team and just so you know, simplicity is always our No.1 priority.
