#1567: Quire Feedback
Status: To-do

Currently, pressing up/down key in task edit mode will move on to the previous/next task, remaining in edit mode.

However the more expected behaviour may be to move the cursor to the front/back of the task title text. This is currently not supported in Quire I think, and though this can be done via keyboard shortcut by OS, it will still inconvenience the common user.

On the contrary, if I would like to move around task, I can always exit edit mode and do so.

This clean separation of duty is used in Jupyter notebooks and other todo apps, so the wide spectrum of users will still find this set of behaviours intuitive.

Hi Peggy,

Thanks for the clear reply. I understand that Quire is modeled on a word processor, and thus the behaviour. My mental model for task manager is different, but I will respect the choice your team make towards the intended target audience.

Your team is making a great product. Keep up the good work! =)

Hi Shao Wei,

Thank you for using Quire and giving us such detail suggestions.

We assume when you are in edit mode, mostly likely you will need to edit not only this task but also other task(s) as well simply by pressing Up/ Down, so we have designed Quire to be like a word processor.

If you are not in edit mode (when in inspection mode), pressing Up/ Down is to navigate the inspected(highlighted) task. And if you want to move the tasks up/ down, please do so when not in edit mode by pressing Ctrl+ Up/ Down keys or using the mouse to drag and drop.

Hope it makes sense to you! 😃
