What about colors for tasks and option to sort/group due to colors?

Color coding conditional on e.g. priority?
Bruno de cleen, Jan 30, 2021
Hi @Bruno_de_cleen - Could you please elaborate more on this feedback?
At the moment, you can color your tasks by different options (e.g. Priority, Date, etc) in the Timeline view. Switch to the Timeline view and click on the icon again for the options to appear. I hope this is what you are looking for.

Hi Peggy,
I use markdown to colour text or parts of the text (font, background) in my tasks, I would however also like to have the opportunity to colour the background of the entire task. The priority arrow is too skinny to catch my attention when I look at my list or board. Colour conditional on priority would be useful. Even more useful would be the possibility to assign colours to the task itself, the way one attributes colours to the flags. I find the colours of the flags too dominant when I look at my board. I regret that I can't have flags without colours. Needless to say that I am "visual". Happy to discuss this further with you. Kind regards Bruno

Hi @Bruno_de_cleen - Sorry for the late reply.
I will let the team know about your feedback. Please help to provide some screenshots to explain more on the following part.

Do you mean the tags' colors are too obvious and too dominant in the Board view? And you would like to remove the colors of the tags in only the Board view?

Looking forward to your reply!

Peggy,
thanks for coming back to me.
Indeed, primarily in the board view, which is for the type of person I am, the most useful view, I find the tag colors too dominant. It would help, should one have the option to remove the tag color in the board view. It would also be useful should it be possible to create tags without a color or to have the opportunity to customise the colors. Not all tags are of equal importance/nature. The active task is now greenish as shown in your example. Well, should I have the possibility to color tasks like that, I would be very happy.
Is there a possibility for me to create a shortcut to produce markdown code such as ? That would make me save time.
I hope this helps. Always happy to help.
rgds

@Bruno_de_cleen - Okay! Noted. What about the WYSIYSG editors? Will it be helpful to you in this case?
Maybe something like below (I randomly search online for an image just to demonstrate what I am talking about.)

Or it would be great if you could share some images to help us understand your requests. Thanks!

Hi Oldtommy, you could change the color of the text by using markdown, here is a blog post on how to do so. Or you mean you would like to give different colors to each task in the board view, then be able to sort by colors, what about using tags to sort? You could also set different colors to tags.

Hi @Bruno_de_cleen - Thanks! I will pass your suggestions to our team!
As far as I am aware, coloring the task card is in our consideration for our future improvements. I will keep you posted if I get more updates regarding this.
As for a shortcut for markdown to change the style for text, you can type { to generate a menu for quick markdown entry.

I hope this helps.

Hi Joshua, duly noted, but I’m afraid it won’t be implemented in the near future.

Peggy, thanks. I know the shortcut but I am looking for a, preferably customizable, extension of these shortcuts. rgds Bruno

Well it would be time consuming to add colours by markdown
