I have one project is All clients, which contains all tasks related to clients. Here is its structure
- Client A
- Task 1
- Task 2
- ...
- Client B
Usually there are only under 10 tasks for each client, so we don't feel like we need to create a project for each one. But sometimes, scopes of some clients grow over 100 tasks, so we need to split it into a new project. When we transfer tasks to new project, all comments are lost, so we can't transfer all previous discussions for each task.
Is there anyway to transfer the task and keep all comments?
Hi @peggy , thanks for your prompt reply. I know the zoom feature, it's helpful in some cases, but doesn't work in others. For example: we assign an external team for some tasks of Client A in the project All clients, but since the scope of that client scales up, we find the need to split it into a new project so we can add members of external team to new project and assign tasks to them more easily. But we can't transfer comments so we have to rewrite description of each task to make sure all discussions are included.
I think splitting a big tasks into a new project is a neccessary action to optimize the projects structure and make it easy to navigate around.

oh I see, thank you. I think that instruction should be included in the transfer window, without your explanation, I would never know that.

@tung.le , oh no my bad 😞 , we actually have a way to transfer tasks to another project with the comments attached. When transferring the task, untick the "Transfer a copy and keep the tasks in the current project".

Hi @tung.le , unfortunately, there's no way to transfer the task and keep its comments. When transfer a task to another project, we see the task as a whole new task, naturally, the comments won't be transferred.
Instead of moving the tasks to another project, what about zooming into the parent task (e.g zoom into Client A). To zoom in, hit z, and a to zoom out. Hope this workaround could help. 😃

@joshuarobison.biz well filtering is not what I want, Peggy’s comment solved my problem. Please read more carefully before jumping to conclusion that someone is wrong.

Hi @tung.le , you can still assign tasks to External Team without splitting up the project.
But I understand splitting up a big project does help with optimizing the structure. I shall let our team know about your use case. 😍
