#2502: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

I mainly use tags, like 'waiting', 'must-do', 'should-do', 'can-do' etc, which are not related to a specific organization. So it would be great to be able to makr tags as 'Cross Organizational', as this saves setup time, and ensures that the names and colors are the same and so can be used in cross organizational Smart Lists.

@joshuarobison.biz under the Areas folder you can then only have tasks and subtasks.... So where do my project go then? Where do you get the idea that a project only has two to four steps. I have multiple projects with 100 steps, which I break down into subtasks, for the same AOR (in this case a customer). I started of with around 1000 tasks to be completed in around 5 months.

Areas are not defined by GTD as just a group of projects, but as the 20.000 ft level, being your areas of responsibility (also called Areas of Focus), being the roles in live you have. In your definition it of projects in Quire, a project would be setup as a task with subtasks. But a task is not a project. If you follow you filosophy, how does the elementsl of Organization add any value? An organization I work in, would be one on my 20.000 ft level. That would be one of my customers, as an example. And I'm not saying, unlike you, that all users should use this concept or should use labels for whatever reason, I'm just trying to explain how I would like to use Quire. If it is flexible enough everyone can utilize the features and capabilities the way it fits their daily work flow.

Hi @pascal.zweipfenning , how about putting the projects in one organization? This way, you could use Global Tags.

I advise to to reread the GTD book of David Allen and look for the definition of a project....multiple tasks, single outcome.

Hi Peggy, that's an option for me. I see an organization as a Area of Responsibility. At the moment I do have 5. Two Companies I run, 2 Customers and my Personal tasks. That would become a completely unclear list of projects. For sure the number of projects I have. For me an app should give me an overview of all my relevant tasks. To be able to determine priorities I need an overview across my AOR (organization in Quire).

I wonder why Quire is concentrating so much on the Organization element as the highest level of listing and reporting. When I create a new Organization or a new tag I want all existing tags and the new tag to be available for all Organizations. To me this sounds like a no-brainer requirement. Not sure if tt is an no-brainer from the technical implementation side though.

Merged to #3119.

Exactly! So a group of projects is an area and in Quire a group of projects is captured in an Organization. So when you have multiple Areas (personal, customer 1 projects, customer 2 projects, company projects etc) with all their own projects, you need multiple Organizations to manage it all.
