Linking to local file instead of uploading?

Hello, instead of uploading local files I would like only to link to them (on Windows). And when clicking in the task window on this link, the local program with the linked file should open. My little team is working on a terminal server so all files are local for us. Outlook and EssentialPIM know the difference between including a file into a task and linking to a file.
