#302: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

I like what I have seen on Quire. The layout and features are intuitive and useful. However (as others have pointed out) before I would commit to using Quire full time and investing time entering in everything, I really need to have some basic questions answered.

For example, there are references throughout the help system to "we" when speaking of Quire in general. However, throughout every blog post and every help article, the only name I've ever seen is Crystal Chen. So... is Quire a one woman show? If not, then how many employees are there? How many people are actually committed to the project?

Where is the company located? There are some of us (especially business users) who have a genuine business need to identify the country they are dealing with.

What is the actual security policy of your service? Specifically, what kind of encryption is used? Is the encryption throughout? ... i.e. Is it Zero Knowledge? Or... does Quire have a back door to the data?

What will the pricing plan be? That has already been asked.

Also, I've noticed that when others ask questions in this forum, their questions are often bounced back to them with the return questions such as "Why did you want this feature..." or "Give me more detail...". Since the questions I posted above are direct, I would just appreciate a straightforward response to each question. Don't really need to get into a whole thread back and forth.

Finally, I realize that you are in Beta, so things like pricing and policies may still be in flux. I would just ask that you consider making the answers to my questions and other basic questions available on your site. It should be at the top of your FAQs and easy to find. That would speak well of the company and attract more users; which seems like a win-win. I like what I have seen so far and sincerely hope that you'll consider my comments and continue to prosper.

Yes Tom, thank you for jumping in and clarifying things. Much appreciated. The only thing that still isn't answered for me is the security question. I've pasted it below again. If you could respond directly to that, that should be the last bit of clarification that I'm seeking.

Thank you again.

Hi @alma32work, It is because I am the person responsible for the Quire community. Here is more about Quire. Regarding encryption and data, please refer to our FAQ page. We see the feedback forum as a place where passionate users can interact with one another, and we ask questions to get to know them and thus make Quire even more awesome and user-friendly. Seems like a win-win. 😃

Sure, data security is our top priority. Currently, Quire is protected with SSL encryption from connection channels to the database. And though we don't provide Zero Knowledge yet, it will be part of our premium services. We’ll definitely let you know when it is available.

One more thing: no one is allowed to access your data without written permission (and we ask only if it is really necessary for debugging).

Thank you very much for a comprehensive and complete answer, Tom.

You're welcome:)

Thank you Tom, I really appreciate the response. Now I and everyone else have much more information as we consider using your service.

I wish you and your team success as you continue to develop Quire.

Well, this is alarming. I am in the middle of moving everything to Quire, and not knowing the answers to these open questions is making me question whether that is the right thing to do.

quire@in.llew.net, Dec 30, 2016

Thank you for the link to the security info on the FAQ page; although that really doesn't answer my security questions in full.

As for the rest of my questions, you didn't really answer them at all. I find that sad and telling. I would just ask that you leave our conversation in your feedback forum for the rest of the community to see. They can then make up their mind whether you've answered these questions thoroughly and whether they feel comfortable continuing with Quire. In the end its all about choice and trust. It's up to a company to build that trust and be open to questions. It's up to consumers to decide if the company has met that standard.

Looks like there are some miscommunication here. I'm the CEO of Potix. Quire, a small team in Potix, currently has 7 members, mainly developers and designers. We're based in Taipei, Taiwan. We’ve been doing business globally for more than 10 years and many of them are global 500 companies.

As mentioned in About Quire, Quire is born as an internal tool to help us solve what other commercial tools cannot — the same reason we developed ZK years ago. We saw the opportunity Quire has in changing the way we manage a challenging project from ideas to greatness. It was launched in August, 2014.

In my opinion, project management is really a taste of personal preferences. There is no perfect methodology for everyone. However, I do believe there is a best, consistent and yet minimal concepts/functions that can help a broad range of users. Yes, it is challenging to identify, but that very thing is the difference between personal preference and true breakthrough.

To make sure we're doing it right, I'd rather have Quire team spend years to listen to what users say, to think thoroughly, and to come up with a consistent and yet simple solution. It is why we take an always-in-beta approach -- you may already notice that we update Quire almost daily; It is why we're slow to build the Android app (iOS app is enough for us to verify ideas); It is why we don't bother to have the pricing plan now; It is why we don't want to go over issues that don't help us to build a great product - even if it is a must for closing a deal.

Thanks for all your questions and suggestions again. We'll update FAQ accordingly.
