A lot of dead space when sorted by 2 criteria

Hello,

my default sort mode is by date then by priority. I like it a lot, just one thing that irks me is that a lot of space is wasted on IMO unnecessary things.

Some screenshots to paint my point:

Primary dead space I used to label the padding that could be replaced by a simple line, margin. Secondary dead space I labelled the area that could be solved with some alternative design ideas.

Here's how much space is saved (where more tasks could be displayed) if primary dead space is removed:
