#3095: Quire Feedback

I was confused to find that the deadline that I set from my PC was different on the target device. now i find the source of the problem: it is based on the device's timezone. why not add timezone option instead of based on the device's timezone that creates the task?

tbh, it's annoying to add several hours from my current time just to make sure it starts and ends on the right time on the target's device. and more annoying if im working with several people around the globe with different timezone.

@robert.warren.gilmore - We had some made some adjustments. Now, the system will create the next recurring task based on the device's timezone that made the change (in this case, completes the task).

Let's say, I have two devices from different timezones both working on the same project.

Device A: May 13 23:00 (Los Angeles) Device B: May 14 2:00 (New York)

Device A (Los Angeles):

  • Create a task due on May 14 (tomorrow).
  • Set recurring 1 day, tick Since last completion
  • Complete the task on Device B (May 14)
  • Newly created task will be due on May 15 --> since the task is completed based on the timezone of Device B

I'm going to run some tests, because I think this issue happens even if I create and complete the task in the same time zone.

I suspect this may be a time zone issue. The repetition schedule doesn't seem to respect my local time zone.

Also, note that I have used the app in many time zones and on many devices. My current local time zone is probably different from the time zone I was in when I created the account.

@robert.warren.gilmore - we are sorry for the inconvenience. However, it's a special case since most of our users will not experience different time zones on multiple devices. So, we are sorry to let you know that there isn't a solution for this particular case. The system won't be able to detect which device that you are currently viewing, so it will create the new repeating task based on the device that you used to create the task.

I did some more experiments. I think I've worked out how the time zone is set. It's based on the last time zone change on any device that has accessed my account, rather than the current time zone on the last device that accessed my account.

It was not clear to me what time zone was set on my account, and whether the time zone is a property of the account, the organisation, the project, or the task.

I would greatly appreciate a help page explaining exactly how the time zone logic works. I have a shared project with another person and both of us have multiple devices and move time zones sometimes. We often complete tasks late at night. I need to be sure that tasks will recur on the exact date when I expect them to recur, and currently it takes a lot of guesswork or experimentation to be sure of how a task will behave.

That's much more intuitive. 🙂 Thanks for the update.
