So far we're planning on using the Kanban boards within a project for multiple users (30~), but we do want to work with permissions, such as giving users only access to certain lanes within the Kanban, or read-only mode, or the ability to only comment/add files while not being able to drag tasks to other lanes etc. Or only giving access to certain Kanban boards within a project and/or organisation.
So far I've been unable to assign permissions like this. Would there be plans for this in the future?

@hasker.brouwer - in Quire, you would only be able to assign permission for the entire project, not for a specific view (in this case, a board).
A Limited project member is probably the closest solution to your issue. Since a limited member can only be able to make changes on the tasks he created or assigned to. Hope this helps.
