#3472: Quire Feedback
Status: To-do

Hello,

This weeked I have set up a number of tasks to try our your systems. In particular, I wanted to create a hierarchy of recurring tasks. I have a weekly set of chores to be done each week and usually some ad hoc ones as well.

For example, I have weekly cleaning, so I have created a task with a start date of Monday and an end date of Sunday. Under this I have recurring tasks that can either be completed at any point in the week or on certain days.

The problem is that when I complete a recurring subtask a new one appears for the next scheduled recurrence. When I complete the grouping task, it also complete this future task, even though it does not fall within the date range. In addition, it generates a further task recurrence, so I know have two pending tasks instead of the one.

Even more frustratingly - I can't close the parent task! If I move a subtask for a future date out of closed, it moves the parent task, even when there's a future parent task with more accurate dates. It's nuts and undermines any effective use.

Please provide some controls for how this interaction between subtasks and parent tasks works. Even if it's just a tick box to disable auto-completing subtasks (though ideally, i would like to be able to set the recurrence on the parent level and have it recreate the child taks, or to set it to only complete child tasks in the same cycle)

Subtasks shouldn't be independent of the parent task they are part of by default. Otherwise, they might be their own separate tasks.

+1 I need this feature for the exact same reasons you do
