#3810: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

I love quire and think it far surpasses the other task management websites I have used, but there is one feature I think it could do with: a way to automate certain actions (eg. adding tags, moving to boards etc)

Trello has something like this in the form of "Butler" which can perform certain automations. An idea of how this could work is that a user creates a "text" rule (which is triggered if a task includes certain text) and assigns a certain action to it (such as adding a tag)

Examples: Type: Text, Condition: "t:$TAG", action: Add tag to task Result: t:Marketing Update social media would make a task called "Update social media" and assign the tag "Marketing"

Type: Tag, Condition: Has tag "Marketing", action: Add task to board "Marketing" Result: When the user adds the "Marketing" tag to a task, it automatically moves it to the "Marketing" board (could use a checkbox in the rule settings to prevent it from moving if there is already a board assigned)

Hi RJ, although I don't have time at the moment, I do plan to and will probably release on github.

Hi @eyrewiut I don't know whether Quire team are going to implement Butler functionality or not but if you're a developer you can create an extension for Quire that reproduces the Butler functions.

@eyrewiut this sounds awesome 💪 let me know I'll try your app definetely 😜

Hi @eyrewiut - Thank you for your feedback. We see the importance of this feature and how this can be helpful to our user's workflow. We will add this into our consideration for our future updates.

As for the first example you've mentioned above, correct me if I'm wrong 😭 , it looks like you are looking for a way to inline assign a tag to the task while entering the task name? If so, we don't support that now. After you've enter the task name, you can type # to assign a tag or create a new tag on the spot. You can find more details here: https://quire.io/guide/inline-assign/#inline-add-a-tag

Hi @peggy, Thanks for your help. I didn't realise there was already a inline feature, so that might come in useful! 👍
