#4419: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed
Tag: Enhancements Resolved

Hello,

I wanted to know if there is a way that whenever I add a subtask under a task (that has already a "#"), this new subtask could take the "#" from the task where it belongs. I understand that not everybody would want this, but the way I'm organizing my to-do-list, this would be very helpful.

Thank you!

+1 to this request. This would greatly compliment the new sublists by filters feature. I am currently filtering by tag, however , when a new subtask is added, it doesn't automatically show up in my sublist because it doesn't inherit the tag from its parent

Hi @arman.abe, Thank you for your suggestions. We have shared this with our team for further review. While this request hasn't been prioritized, please know that we will keep you informed if there are any updates or changes regarding this feature in the future. Thank you.

Hi @arman.abe, I would like to add that if you’ve set up a sublist with a pre-set condition to filter by tag, you can add new subtasks directly to the sublist, and they will automatically inherit the same tag. Feel free to try this out, and let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Hi all, We are happy to share that subtasks can now inherit tags from their parent tasks. You can enable this option in your Project Settings by following these steps:

  1. In your project, click the dropdown menu next to your project name.

  2. Select Options. image.png

  3. In Features section, toggle on Allow subtasks to inherit the tags of their parent tasks option. image.png

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Merged #4467 to this task.

Hi @salalopez - In Quire, we view the tasks and their subtasks as separated and individual tasks. That's why the subtasks will not automatically inherit the tags of the parent tasks. We feel like this workflow might be different to different users and we chose to keep that flexibility for our users. However, I understand your use case and how this feature will be helpful to your workflow. I will pass your suggestion to our team and if I have any updates from them, I will let you know.

For now, as a workaround, though a little bit cumbersome, you can manually add the tags by using multiple selection and then applying the tags with the bottom menu bar. I hope this helps.

Merged #5017 to this task.

I would really like user control over this: my workflow definitely follows what the OP is doing. Conceptually, a subtask is related to the parent task, and as such, the parent's tags are often relevant to the subtasks as well.

Please add a Setting to enable this behaviour.
