Tasks that don't have any subtasks should not require me to chose whether to add or remove only the selected task or including its subtasks. And it would be nice if it could work in a similar way like changing status: You can set up whether it Quire gives you the all status options every time or only on a right click.
Hi @zealseeker.yang, I'm not certain I understand what you meant, but if you add a task to a sublist, any subtasks you create under that task will automatically be added to the sublist π π

Ahh apologies, I see what you mean now. Yeah, that use case makes sense to me.
However, this enhancement thread is only about the "one time" selection of which tasks are added/removed from a sublist. Your idea is an "ongoing" maintenance of subtasks in a sublist (while the parent task is not in the sublist).
So as you said above, it might make more sense to create a new thread. Unfortunately, from what I can tell I imagine it would be hard for the quire team to implement this (as it doesn't seem to fit within the existing framework). As a work around, you could try the following:
- only adding new tasks using the "add tasks" button in kanban board view.
- if you want to edit in tree/list view, switch to this view within your sublist and only add tasks in your sublist tab.
Either of these options will work. However, they have the downside that you can't add new tasks from the global "list" tab

Hi Michal - This enhancement has been brought to our team. When we have update, I will let you know. Thank you for your feedback! π

Glad to hear it! You're very welcome π

Hi @yozza . This trick is really helpful and super simple. That's actually what I want. Thank you very much.

Hi all - We have made an enhancement: if the task is the last level (if it doesn't any subtasks), there won't be a menu for you to choose whether to add/remove only the selected task or including its subtasks. I hope this helps! Thanks!

Hi @yozza Sorry for confusing you. My sublist is a kanban board so I just want to show subtasks (real tasks) and exclude the parent task, which is "a folder". That's why I say "apply to subtasks only" because the selected task should not show on the board.
Hongbin Yang, May 2, 2021
ahhh! actually I just thought of super simple way of achieving what you want! Just filter out the parent task!
e.g. create a tag "folder":

then in your kanban board sublist filter out the tag folder:

I am not sure if I need to add a new thread but it is quite relevant: sometimes I want to make a parent task a "folder" and I hope all its subtasks can be automatically listed into a sublist. In another word, add an option of "apply to subtasks only".

I second this. Especially allowing the option, like with status, to show options every time or only on a right click
best of all worlds: quick default behavior + still allowing easy change!
