#4864: Quire Feedback
Status: To-do

Hello, I have a suggestion for when I am dragging & dropping items in lists to reorder them.

The problem is that the drop surface is "unstable" because the UI draws a dash-outlined box where the new item will go. This becomes confusing and complicated when I have a list with lots of items with sub-items (several deep).

When I click and hold to "pick up" a task in a list to drop it somewhere else, the rest of the list moves up and down to accommodate a dash-outlined box. Because my list has lots of items with sub-items (a few levels deep), the "toggle" between placing into a closed parent item versus directly into the visible list results in difficult placements at the intended location with a trackpad and mobile app. (Enough to write to you about it 😃 )

What I am suggesting is to implement a perhaps standard UI behavior for this scenario: don't vertically move the list at all while I am mid-drag. Instead, highlight a parent item to indicate that dropping will place the dragged item there (this is implemented currently) and, instead of sliding the dash-outlined box up and down the list otherwise, just draw a bold line.

This will prevent any vertical sliding during the drag-and-drop operation and help place items more accurately the first time.

Thank you 😃
