Turn off parent/child when adding tasks in Kanban view?

Hi, I really like to work in Quire using the Kanban view, but every time I try to add a new task, it automatically makes it a "child" task of whatever the most recently created task is. It's of course easy to close out of that, but the window is tiny, easy to miss, and annoying if you are trying to quickly add several tasks. Is there a way I can turn this setting off? (If I wanted to develop parent/child relationships, I'd use the list view anyway)
