#5892: Quire Feedback
Status: To-do

Hi, I am searching for a way to create a new task at same level as existing one when cursor is placed on this existing task. Note that the existing task has sub tasks. I tried Enter or shift+Enter key but it always create a new sub task of existing one. Maybe I miss another shortcut key in the shortcut page. Thanks

Hi, Thank you for your feedback.

To create a task at the same level as the task you're inspecting, press Enter on your keyboard. Please see my recording below.

To better assist you, could you please provide a screen recording when you press Enter to create a task with the same level? This way, we can visually understand your concern. Thank you.

I think understand now : my usecase is that the existing task is a section. When you press Enter, it creates new subtask instead of sibling task/section at the same level.

Hi, To create another section, you can use the * shortcut. Please note that this shortcut only supports creating the first-level section. For sub-sections, start by creating a subtask, then use Ctrl + S (or + S for Mac) to turn your task into a section.

Additionally, to create another task at the same level, you can create a subtask first, then use the Alt + left arrow key to move the task one level up. Please try this and let me know if it works. Thank you.

Hi, I've tried your suggestion with Ctrl + left instead of Alt + left. This works well if at project level option, you set "create new subtask at bottom". If you set "create new subtask at top", pressing Ctrl+Left will place all subtasks of section as subtasks of new subtasks. I think I am alone on this kind of usecases. Don't take too much time handle this enhancement as this is clearly not blocking. Thanks and have a nice day
