#6026: Quire Feedback
Status: To-do

Hello Quire! Long time fan here. There is one thing that bothers me tremendously: when scrolling a list up and down with the finger on the screen, the list items does not follow consistently the finger tip, rather it jumps up and down in its own way, rather yerky, along with the menu bar being hidden or reappearing. Especially when scrolling slowly as I always do when contemplating task priority. The menu bar also sometimes gets stuck halfway if one scrolls back and forth. Can you please fix this glitchy menu bar!

This issue is getting critical to my workflow. In the meanwhile, can you not simply lock the top menu bar in visible position, stopping it from automatic hiding? This must be a trivial code change. Or at least add ”hide menu automatically” as an option in the settings. This would be a huge improvement!! Today’s large mobile screens allow sufficiently long list view anyway.

Hi,

As mentioned earlier, we're afraid this request won't be prioritized at the moment due to significant technical limitations. While we understand this may influence how you work in Quire, it's not currently considered critical to overall functionality.

That said, your feedback has been noted and won’t be overlooked. We’ll revisit this in the future when we have the capacity. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Daniel,

I’m sorry for the frustration this has caused, and I completely understand your concerns. I’ve flagged this to the Dev team, and after careful discussion, we regret that we’re unable to prioritize this issue at the moment due to some critical technical limitations. While we understand it may impact your work in Quire, it is not considered critical to workflow, so this is our final decision for now.

That said, we will revisit this issue when we have the capacity, so please rest assured that it has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi @md_noble, Are you suggesting you'd prefer arrow buttons for scrolling through tasks in your project? If so, could you please provide more details or share any mock-ups you might have in mind? Thank you

Any timeline for fixing this original issue!? I’m realizing that I’m using Quire less and less due to annoyance! Please get to work on it!

Daniel Ljunggren, Mar 17, 2025

Too bad, if its critical for me, I’m sure it’s critical to many other users. I would prioritize annoyances like these over new features if I were you. Better making a product polished and slim than faulty and bloated with features.

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for being a long-time fan of Quire. We truly value your feedback and are eagerly anticipating improvements to our mobile app.

Your feedback, along with that of other users, has been noted by our team. Rest assured, there has been discussions regarding this feedback in the past few weeks. However, addressing this issue isn't straightforward. We aim to display more tasks in the list view on the mobile app, which involves hiding the top menu bar and having it appear automatically when scrolling. It's a complex task, but please know that your input is crucial in our ongoing efforts to enhance the user experience.

I'll make sure to bring your feedback to our mobile team once again, and we hope to implement enhancements in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your understanding.

Hello Peggy,

Thanks for a quick response. Note that that I'm referring to iOS. Glad that you are aware of the issue and have plans for making the experience much smoother with scrolling and the automatic menu. While your'e on the topic of improving the list in mobile apps I suggest the line spacing can be narrower to allow for more tasks visible. Another feature I love to see is a status symbol for each task in Basic mode, like is currently only available in Advanced mode together with many other cluttring icons which I don't need to see, see #5709

Daniel Ljunggren, Apr 23, 2024

Also Android users have noted this annoyance, see #6010.

Daniel Ljunggren, Apr 23, 2024

Hello Daniel,

I wanted to update you on the scrolling issue you mentioned. Unfortunately, addressing it poses technical challenges, and I cannot make any promises regarding a fix in the near future. However, I want to assure you that we are fully aware of this issue, and if we find a solution, we will certainly implement it. Rest assured, we will keep you informed with any updates.

Regarding the other feedback you provided about the narrow spacing on mobile and displaying the status icon without switching to Advanced mode, I've also brought these concerns to our team's attention.

Peggy, Apr 23, 2024

Hello Peggy,

OK, understand. Sometimes one simply paints oneself into the corner as a coder. Appreciate all efforts to untangle the situation and improve the UX!

Daniel Ljunggren, Apr 23, 2024

Hi @md_noble, thank you for your suggestion. We will let our team know about this and keep you informed of any updates in the future. Thank you.
