Hi there,
I'm enjoying Quire; have used a LOT of comparable tools, but Quire is the best and my Go-To!
There is one thing that annoys me terribly; when you forget to save the Description field in a task and you leave the task, depending on what you do, you sometimes lose your work.
So there is the dialog that pops up that asks you to "Continue Editing" or "Discard" the changes. This dialog should for starters also contain the "Save" option; it's annoying to first have to go back to the field, and then scroll to the "Save" button. 98% of the time when I click outside of the Description field, it's because I'm done editing, so the "Save" option should at least be in that dialog.
But in some case, even if you get that dialog and you click "Continue Editing" to not lose your work, it fails and you lose your work anyway.
Because there are many other fields in Quire that autosave when you exit them (like the Task name), I never get used to sometimes having to press the Save button.
The best solution is to also implement Autosave on exit of the Description field. This to me would be an extremely welcome simple feature.
Can this (Auto save) please be implemented? If that is not possible, a (much) less ideal change would be to add the "Save" option to the aforementioned dialog.
Thanks!
Hi, thank you for sharing your feedback.
Currently, the task description doesn't support auto-save. However, you can use a quick workaround by pressing Ctrl + Enter (or Cmd + Enter on Mac) to save the task description instantly. If you’d like to continue editing afterward, simply press d on your keyboard.
Rest assured, we’ll share your feedback with our team for further review and keep you informed of any updates. Thank you!

Hi @golda . Thanks for responding. It's nice to see that feedback is actively monitored and responded to!
Thanks also for the Ctrl + Enter tip. I only don't think that that will solve the problem.
The problem is that I sometimes forget that that field needs explicit saving. This forgetting is incentivized by the fact that other fields do have auto-save, and don't need explicit saving. So when I'm not mindful, I wrongfully apply the same "auto-save" behavior that works for some fields (clicking outside of the field expecting it to be saved) to that description field where it doesn't work. The fact that you have these 2 saving-paradigms in the same application (Quire) and even right after each other on the same "form" (the Task edit "form") is the cause of the problem. You never truly get accustomed to the fact that Description needs explicit saving. If all fields required explicit saving (would be a nightmare, so please don't implement that 😅), at least you would eventually get used to it.
When I remember to explicitly save, your tip now provides me with a 2nd way to perform this explicit save. But it doesn't solve the problem of losing my work when I forget that I have to explicitly save for that one field. I therefore think that auto-save would be a generally very valuable and welcome feature. There is really no functional reason I can think of to not implement it.
And while that field has no auto-save, please consider the option of adding the "Save" option to the warning that you get when you exit the Description field without saving. This might be an intermediate solution? Not sure if it will fully solve the problem, as I currently lose my work even after I press "Continue editing", but if it works, it might be easier to implement short-term while we wait on the ultimate solution (auto-save)?
Thanks again.

Hi, Your feedback has been shared with our team for further discussion. We are currently working on the WYSIWYG editor feature, which will include the auto-save function for task descriptions.
Please note that we cannot provide a specific timeline for when this feature will be available. We will keep you updated once it’s ready. In the meantime, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Enter (or Cmd + Enter on Mac) to save your task description as a workaround. Thank you!

Hi,
We understand that two different saving behaviors may lead you to lose your work in the task description.
Your suggestion to introduce an auto-save feature for the task description or to add a save option in the discard changes dialog is an excellent addition to the current functionality.
We will make sure that your feedback is discussed with our Product Team to explore potential enhancements. We'll keep you informed about any updates in the future. Thank you for your suggestions!
