For example, pasting some markdown from another document as follows just results in it being treated as text, it is never processed as formatted content. I would have expected it to convert it to wysiwyg.

Hi Jason,
As I mentioned in my previous comment, some of the markdown syntax will get converted to WYSIWYG, but not all of them.
We are working on it, please stay tuned.

Hi Jason,
As we mentioned earlier, we gave up supporting full Markdown syntax in our latest update, so typing markdown will not get converted to WYSIWYG.
However, as we recognize its value and are working on bringing back some of the most commonly used Markdown syntax to the new editor.
So after we bring back some of the Markdown syntax, it will get converted to WYSIWYG.
I understand this may not be the outcome you and your team were hoping for. Our goal is to strike a balance between a more user-friendly writing experience and the needs of Markdown-heavy users.
We hope you understand and we thank you for your patience.

Thanks! The above is all I really need for now.

Hi Jason,
Most of the commonly used Markdown syntax has been supported in our latest version, except for ** for bold. We are still working on this syntax.
If you'd like to add anymore markdown syntax, let us know as well.

You said in that thread you valued my feedback and wanted me to submit things I'd still like to work, so I did. The description of this issue says that I would have expected that it gets converted to wysiwyg, so I'm not 100% sure what you're disagreeing with me about.
