#6281: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed
Tag: Bugs Interface Resolved

When on a task, I’m hitting Ctrl-Delete to delete a task that has subtasks. A dialog is shown, asking me to confirm the deletion of the task and subtasks (I think because not all of them are visible in the current view). The Cancel button seems to be focused. When I hit Enter though, the tasks are deleted. In the dialog, if I hit Shift-Tab to make sure the focus moves to Delete, then Tab to focus Cancel again, and hit Enter, no change, the task and subtasks are deleted. I’ll join a GIF showing the problem in case that helps.

Hi Golda,

I might be wrong (actually no, see links below) but that seems to me like a huge accessibility and usability mistake to have Enter not just activate the focused button.

If you *really* need to keep this behavior, you need at the very least to add explicit information next to these buttons. But I really don’t understand this idea. You could have the Enter button focused by default if you want to keep the current behavior. (the after-the-fact cancel feature works great, thankfully)

But again, a focused button must be activated using the Enter key, quite simply, it is extremely confusing that it’s not the case here.

I hope you’ll consider changing this. Have a great day!

Hi,

Currently, pressing Enter confirms the deletion, while pressing Esc cancels it. You can also press Space to click the focused button.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I can see now that it's working as expected! Thank you!! 🙌

Hi Sylvain,

This issue has been fixed in the latest version. Please try again 😃

Hi,

You are right, this behavior can be confusing. We’ve made an enhancement based on your feedback. Since pressing Enter triggers the browser’s default action, we have moved the position of the delete button to improve clarity. Thank you for your feedback!

Hi, thank you for considering my comment! I just tried it and am confused because, if I understand correctly, you have just changed the default focused button to be Delete, but moving the focus to Cancel and pressing Enter still deletes the tasks... It's still wrong, the expecting behavior is to have Enter activate whatever the focused button is. Now that the Delete button is focused by default, all that's left to do is to just activate the focused button on Enter (which should be the default HTML behavior by the way). I understand that some things might be difficult to change in complex design systems, but it is extremely important in this case.

Or the update hasn't been fully deployed yet and I'm rambling for nothing, sorry if that's the case! 😄

Cheers, Sylvain
