Dear Quire, I really love you so much <3
It just feels like the editors have recently taken a knock. It felt like I was struggling with MS Word. The editors seem broken in several ways.
Could you not have an option for people who want just a plain text editor, with the good old Quire-flavoured markup, like it used to be?
Hi Karl,
Thank you for your response. We are aware that the new editor somehow has a lot of glitches since the day we launched it. It was never our intention, but things just happened. So we have been very active on hunting the bugs down and squashing them.
In case you see any behaviors in the new editor that you don't think it should work that way, let us know! It might be a bug, it might be a spec, but let us know anyway!
We don't want you to just "live it it", we hope you can feel comfortable working with Quire, so in any case that you don't think we've done enough or there's room for improvement, let us know 😃 Your voice matters, and we are all ears.
Have a great day!

Hi Vicky, thanks for the response. I hadn't read the Quire Feedback when I wrote my original message, and I see from #6267, where the description and comments put much more succinctly my own thoughts, that Quire is not intending to bring back the simple effective clean markdown editor, and that was my main hope in writing to you.
Regarding the bugs in the new editor, I see you're actively addressing them, and I'll just live with it.
Still appreciate Quire, thank you.

Hi Vicky, I am just going to have to live with the new editor - the old editor was clean, elegant, practical - which is everything I associated with Quire (and still largely do). From my point of view, the new editor is not, not compared to the delight of the old editor, and it is something I will just live with, because Quire has been really useful to us, and still is... all for free!
(I write from the point of view of a developer, and I appreciate other Quire users might not have been as comfortable with it, and these users probably appreciate the new editor. Can't please everyone. Though you could... if you allowed a user preference setting to choose between WYSIWYG editor and markdown editor.)
Please feel free to mark this issue as closed - I accept your decisions.

Current editor is buggy and made Quire much worse to use.

Hi Karl,
Since 2 weeks ago, we launched the new editor and gave up supporting full Markdown. We know it created some difficulties to users who love Markdown, so we added back some of the commonly used Markdown syntaxes. However, bold syntax still requires a bit more time.
Please let us know specifically how you are struggling with, maybe it's a bug that we can help to resolve?
