#1150: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

Hi

I have been using Quire a lot in the last few months and finding it really good. Android app has improved quite a bit too. Well done.

Probably only one real frustration remains. I sometimes have over 100 tasks that need my attention. I dont mean the Overdue tasks where the Unread notification status automatically clears. I mean the tasks where the Orange dot stays attached to the task until I go and look at it.

What I have to do at the moment on the Web interface is scroll through every project that has an orange dot looking for every task that has an orange dot. I do it this way because the notification popup is even more impractical to use - on it I have to scroll through the popup list, find one that i haven't read, click it, go back to the notification popup, open, scrollllllll and search, click, repeat. I never use it now for more than just a few of the recent unread tasks.

This means that I spend a lot more time than i should need to trying to respond to activity on the tasks which is a little frustrating.

Two possible solutions come to my mind.

  1. Simply provide an option to filter the Notification popup so it only shows things i havent read. Then it would take me just two clicks to get to a unread task and no scrolling at all.

or

  1. Add a new filter option that displays only the tasks that have the orange notification dot. My preference would be for that to work just like the "My Tasks" option in the left sidebar. That would be perfect. Call it "Pending Activity" or something. All i have to do then is work through that one list - no more searching, scrolling, clicking, frustration :-)

I have a ticket for this idea in the forum but when I tried to get to that i got this error https://www.screencast.com/t/Qu8qoqqAvQ

Thanks for great product. Andrew

This task is now identical to #5841 and can be closed.

Hi guys, Thank you Andy for the suggestion. What if we auto-jump to the last notification you clicked in the popup, every time you open the notification? This way, you do not need to scroll all the way down each time. Also, we will let users choose what they want to get notified of (eg., when a task is assigned to you, when a comment is posted). It should help.

This has been implemented now and definitely makes things better. Thank you.

Hi Marcus, now, you can use the filter bar to filter out the unread tasks in your project. See here.

The filter is per project, you would still need to set the filter for every project. But you can click on the star in the filter bar to save the filter, so you don’t have to repeat the steps every time you want to see the unread tasks. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hi Crystal, "selective notifications" would be a very big + for me and problably a lot of users looking at the feedback list. The auto-jump option would be a nice addition but not a solution on it's own in my opinion.

For @rogers.ag a temp solution would be the attached filter. At lease it shows all reason modifications. I found if you are mentioned in a comment, you auto follow that task.

Hi Andy,

  1. Got it!
  2. I see. We shall consider it.
  3. Let us think about it too.

Has there been any movement on improving the notification feed? Quire is a fantastic product but notification handling is a weak point from my perspective.

I'd like to see an index of unanswered (orange dot) tasks or something similar. As it is, I feel like the only way to keep tabs on everything is to view projects individually, which easily becomes a monotonous time suck.

Filter option works nicely. Already found a few comments from weeks ago that I missed. I have lots of projects though so I need to get busy

Thanks for the tip

Hi @crystal . Just noticed your comment.

  1. Autojumping in the web interface would definitely help. If i check notifications I do it in the Android interface because it does exactly that - jumps to the last position.
  2. The notifications options as you described won't help much for me. I am happy with what I am notified about. It is not the quantity of notifications that is the problem. It is that there is no easy way to find the notifications in the list that I haven't already checked. All it requires is an option "Show Unread Notifications Only". It seems like a really easily addition. There is even a menu in the Android version already there that it could be added to.
  3. A third thing i haven't mentioned before is that the highlight color is not very 'highlighty'. The initial highlight color is good - but then that initial color changes to a very, very pale green which I find hard to see clearly. In the dark skin it is even harder.

Thanks.

I will check it.Thanks. I think a filter option in the notification list is possibly still the best solution
