#1244: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

I've read through some past user interaction about how to set up task dependency. Is this something that there is a visual method to view? Many of my tasks will depend on multiple other items being done, which are not just subtasks of themselves, but also on other main tasks.

I'd like to be able to declare dependencies by task # as I assign them vs. writing "do this after # and such in the comments, particularly when there will be multiple dependencies.

I'd also like to be able to have this displayed, similar to a Gantt chart on a calendar assuming dates are assigned.

Hi @sdaniel , I'm afraid this won't be ready this year... 😭 but we definitely let you guys know once it rolls out.

Now this is communicating, thank you @peggy , for finally being clear about the fact that you won't be able to work on it this year.

We users appreciate your hard work and love the app you have created, we also understand there's priorities and stuff, we just wanted to know how far in your plans was this feature.

Thank you, @peggy :-D

They are already working on this, let's see if their approach fulfills your needs.

Any news on this?

Merged to #277.

It's near the end of 2021 now and there are no task dependencies yet?!

Arya Seddigh, Aug 19, 2021

Hi Arya - We are afraid that we still don't have an update for this. 😭

Peggy, Aug 20, 2021

Dependency is a key element of Task management. Should I invest in using QUIRE because it will come shortly or this is still ... not for this year (2020)? Thanks

Etienne Guerou, Feb 9, 2020

Thats unfortunate, but its it's a great app none the less. Keep up the great work and thanks for the update.

Shaquille Daniel, Sep 18, 2019

Hi Yannick, I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "user story in the priority backlog". 😞 Please help to explain more. Thanks.

Peggy, May 16, 2019

is this user story in the priority backlog ?

YANNICK SOULTANE, May 15, 2019

Hi Alban, yes, this is still in our plan. As we have been working on other features, we haven’t gotten to this one yet.

Peggy, Aug 27, 2019

Hello, is this still a thing? Dependencies would be really appreciated on Quire.io.

(deleted-ROkY), Aug 23, 2019

Hi Peggy, Any update on this feature?

Shaquille Daniel, Sep 18, 2019

Can I upvote this feature somewhere?

Brahim Mouhamou, Aug 28, 2019

Hi @sdaniel , I'm afraid this won't be ready this year... 😭 but we definitely let you guys know once it rolls out.

Peggy, Sep 18, 2019

Hi Brahim, you could leave a plus one comment here, and we will be able to know that you are requesting this feature. And like I said, we haven’t gotten to this feature yet. We will definitely let everyone know once it’s available. Thank you for your feedback!

Peggy, Aug 28, 2019

Dependencies are great for planning and breaking down tasks. However, my work is usually open-ended, so the strong emphasis on timelines that you usually find in Gantt charts would be an obstacle. Cheers!

Samuel Palato, May 6, 2020

@etienne.guerou you're right, I'm missing that feature too but you can add # anywhere in your description or comment to create relations to other tasks. That's super easy and handy.
