It would be super helpful to have the option to mark individual notifications as read. So you can use the notifications overview as a kind of inbox.
Hi Tilmann, It is in our plan. 😃
Hi Andy,
…if you actually visit the tasks associated with the Comment the notifications tend to clear.
If let’s say you visit a task with a notification about a new comment added to it, then yes, the notification will become read as we assume you have read all updates made to it.

Hi @crystal :
It's quite random I must say.
- I see the notifications on my [Android] phone
- Then I tap on one of the notifications and it takes me to the task [or issue].
- Then I can keep repeating the process for as many notifications as I have.
- Say I had 25 notifications, after seeing every single one I still got the bell with 25 on it -duh!- .
- Once I've no notifications left to see, I head to the bell icon and the expected behavior is that all 25 are marked as read... Well, not quite; the counter on the bell does disappear.
- But you see some of the notifications still "greened" or unread.
- You head to that task -from the very notification- and the orange dot next to it and the notified comment does not disappear.
- I've managed to dismiss the orange dot -and in the process get the notification set to read- by heading to the task directly, then scroll to the last comment and it fades away.
This is a heck of a work to get a notification read and get rid of the orange dot on modified tasks/comments.
I like your app not erasing the remaining notifications on the Android panel, but the way you do that seems to me that is causing the internal notification mess hahah...
Well, I hope the comment describes something useful for your debuggers so that you can solve it faster and easier.

Ok. I will try next time.

Hi Andy, Could you provide a screenshot of your Console? To do this, please right click your web page and select Inspect --> Console. This will help us look into it. Thanks!

@crystal thanks for the positive answer. Really looking forward to this feature.
and thanks for this transparent and fast feedback list.

I so agree with that :-) I really like Quire but this remains my final peeve. The Notifications popup window is next to useless for me. I have 100s of unread and read notifications in the list - so I can never find the unread ones easily.
FYI Quire does automatically mark some notifications as Read. And if you actually visit the tasks associated with the Comment the notifications tend to clear. There is a bug which means sometimes the notification will remain unread - adding your own comment to the task tends to change the notification status to read in those cases.

I can confirm the behavior described by Andy, happens to me all the time.
Harley Cascante, Oct 10, 2018
Hi Crystal. Yes, it's supposed to change to the read status. And it works maybe 95% of the time for me. Just occasionally, like 5 minutes ago, does it refuse to clear the little orange dot (and hence the Read status) no matter how many times I read that comment. This is on the Android app.

Hi guys, We will look into it. In the meantime, if you know the steps to reproduce the issue, please let us know. Thanks!
Crystal, Oct 11, 2018
Or you can add a comment to the task and that will set the Read status to read. And it seems random. I have not been able to identify a pattern.

Normally the problem with the Orange dot not disappearing after i have viewed all comments happens in the Android client. But i had that problem today in the web interface as well. Even when i clicked on the icon on the bottom right to jump directly to the unread comment it failed to clear the Orange dot.
