#1627: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed
Tag: Resolved

Here's the issue: I'm working along on Client A's project when I think of something I should do for a different client. I'd like to have a "Quick Add" button that allows me to type in a task or note. That task or note is sent to an inbox. This would be helpful because I've never had to leave Client A's screen and thus don't get distracted. Later, I can go to my inbox and move any tasks or notes into the correct place.

Hi @PeterV - We have introduced a feature a while back ago: adding tasks to My Tasks (personal inbox, tasks that doesn't belong to any projects). Hit m to add tasks directly to My Tasks from any projects. You can later transfer the tasks to a specific project. Hope this is what you are looking for. 🙌

Here the guide for more information: https://quire.io/guide/my-tasks/#personal-tasks

I appreciate that, but it's not the same thing. Personal Tasks are for that, personal task. An Inbox is a place to add new tasks as they come to mind without friction, to be sorted when able. In GTD, if the task is a simple one, you do it on the spot and it never gets into a project.

I have been looking for a replacement for NirvanaHQ for ages. It's the best app for GTD, but the people behind it aren't really improving the app anymore. I love Quire, it's beautiful and functional, but in my opinion it needs two things to be great and maybe a third.

(1) Inbox with Quick Add feature (2) A "Backlog" area which will hold all task that I want to record, but won't be doing in the immediate future as they aren't priority. (3) A "Daily list" which amasses all the starred tasks across projects that can be sorted specially to match your priorities of the day. If you want to be really cool, once you complete a task, the system can automatically star the next task in priority for this project.

I hope you take these into consideration . These are game changers for many.

How is this coming along? +1 for this, I hope it's coming.

Hi @PeterV - Thank you for the explanation! 😍 Quire is designed more for small team who are managing their projects together, but we do think some of the concepts for GTD is quite meaningful and helpful, so we try to integrate as many GTD methods into our tool as possible. We see our My Tasks feature as an inbox, where you can immediately quick-add new tasks by pressing m from the inbox or any other projects, you can then sort and organize them later on.

Re: Backlog area: A workaround for this is to use the My Tasks as the backlog. You can peekaboo (hide) the tasks that you won't be doing immediate future.

Re: Daily list: I think this is a pretty cool suggestion and it might be helpful if you are buried in a bunch of tasks every day.

For all the above suggestions, I will make sure to pass them on to our team for more discussion. If I have any news, I will let you know! Thanks again.

p.s. About the "Backlog" and "Daily list" feedback, feel free to open up two new feedback threads for them, this way, other users can join the discussion and add their votes in the comments below. 😜

Piling on here. This would be great. Particularly in conjunction with e-mailing a task (which would end up in the inbox)

Hi Sherry, I know know where you're coming from. Such "inbox" or "default project" is in our consideration.

When promoting GTD with Quire this is a must! I want to be able to enter a task without having to think about the organization, project, assignee, due date et. That assignment can be done later.

Hi @pascal.zweipfenning , we are in the progress of rolling out this feature. Thank you for your feedback! 😃

Hi Peter, Thanks for your suggestion. I have made note of this. We shall consider this.
