#2290: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

Hi there,

It would be good to see some way of retaining hierarchy when filtering views. Currently, if I filter by date I then lose context for subtasks in many cases where those subtasks are due earlier than their parent task.

In above example this results in the parent task slotting in somewhere down the list far from its subtasks and generally, the list becomes difficult to easily review.

Love the product. A few things I'm trying to get my head around besides filters:

-- It would be nice to use multiple sort conditions (e.g sort high priority first then by day).

-- Smart folders don't seem very useful at the moment with the count limit for projects. Or maybe I'm not Quire-ing right? 😃

-- The other big item is the mobile app. It's kind of bare bones and needs some TLC right? Very awkward to use vs. the web browser interface.

Anyway, great tool and I'll be sticking around. Been through them all, and always went back to keeping a spreadsheet because I crave simplicity with power ...

Thanks!

Hi @delagent and @joshuarobison.biz , duly noted. Please give us more time to think about this. Thanks so much!

Hi Dela, The suggestion of retaining hierarchy when sorting by date has been requested by other users and we’re discussing internally right now. Overall, this suggestion makes sense but there are quite some challenges with the interface and the specs so it might take awhile for us to make this functionality happen on Quire.

Just out of curiosity: in your case, the subtasks are due earlier than the parent tasks, which means, the parent tasks will appear in both due dates groups. Is it what you expect to see when sorted by date?

Right now, in the detail panel, you can see the first level subtasks, maybe this might help?

We are already aware of the multiple sorting. We will need more time to discuss on this matter.

About the limitation for Smart Folder, when we introduce the pricing plan (next year), you can purchase the plan that has the most appropriate limitation.

About the mobile app improvement, could you please elaborate more on this? The mobile app might have different behavior than the web browser due to the screen size limitation. We would love to bring our users the best experience with mobile app, so we’re all ears to learn more about your suggestions. Thank you very much.

Hi Peggy,

Joshua above shows how I would expect the group by date function to work. To really drive the point home using his given example, if you had multiple tasks all called ā€œTaskcā€ and all due the same day then the current structure would not be helpful.

For context presses, I mean long presses on the app icon to quickly add tasks or other features.

Hi Peggy, apologies for the delayed reply. Please see following responses to your points:

Subtasks If grouped by date, the parent task will not appear with the subtask if due dates are different. I think you’re saying that is the expected behavior? If so, that’s not consistent with my experience.

Multiple Sorting Great. I look forward to development on this feature.

Smart Folders Would be happy to purchase a pricing plan to remove the project limits.

Mobile Some crucial features:

  • Widgets for quick entry/review
  • Context presses in iOS (I can’t speak for Android but assume there’s something similar)
  • Gestures (e.g. swipe options)

Hi @delagent , No worries! Thank you for your reply! šŸŽ‰Ā Please see my other questions and reply:

Subtasks

Take below as an example:

  • Parent Task (Due on Sep 30)
    • Subtask (Due on Sep 25)

When sort by date (our current spec is like this):

Today

  • Subtask (Due on Sep 25)

Upcoming

  • Parent Task (Due on Sep 30)

But the spec you are looking for is like below, right?

Today

  • Parent Task (Due on Sep 30)
    • Subtask (Due on Sep 25)

Upcoming

  • Parent Task (Due on Sep 30)

Mobile

I will let the team know about these suggestions:

  • Context presses: do you mean when hard press on the app, a context menu will pop up for you to quickly add a task?
  • Gestures: do you mean to swipe right and left in the detail panel to go to the previous/next task? If not, please give us more details.

Thank you so much. šŸ˜
