Like the broswer app, the left side sliding drawer is good to rapidly switching projects & tasks, and to view everything at once.
But now on the Android app, one has to press back & back to view that menu (recent, projects, members)- as it occupies an entire screen.
If your UX team believes that is not a disaster, I believe you could at least give the users an option asking what would they prefer (drawer style or page style)
You can tap on tab to go back. Or even double tap on tab to quickly get the root view.
