@yanrui Thanks. Can you tell more about how do you use tags? What is your other tags?

Sorry to rush in, but I created a tag for tasks which are used as notes and thus have no due dates. I also found it useful to keep that kind of tasks/notes among the root tasks of the project usually below them.

I consider tags as the simplest way to group the tasks which belong to different projects or even different organisations. I use a russian word for "info" as a tag for the notes across the projects, "toBuy" for the purchases that are not urgent. Thus when I'm shopping for business I can check if I need anything for home. It could be actually used with one single task out of projects, but I plan to export the amount of expenses from the tasks in the future, so it is not a good idea as the expenses of different projects will be a mess. Also, tags are good workaround for the absence of multi-parented sub tasks (which I let myself predict to be introduced in the near future because Gantt charts (which are told to be in development as we speak) will not be fully functional without them.

markup algorithm interpreted and marked some items with different colors for no reason. or interpreted it as code and marked the reserved words?

Hi @yanrui - Thank you for the explanation. I will pass this on to our team for more discussion first. If we have any updates, I will let you know in this thread.

⭐️ To avoid having too many duplicate feedback, we have merged your post with this thread #2618 already covering this topic. Feel free to add your comments to that thread.

Hi @yanrui - Thank you for jumping in and sharing how you are using tags as a workaround.
Could you please explain more on "multi-parented sub tasks"? Please share a use case with us, this way we can be on the same page. Thanks so much! 🙌

Hi @peggy . I have to apologize - I did miss the comment among the other notifications. Found it only today, cleaning the mail. On multi-parented sub tasks: it depends on whether your team decides to use Task tree as a source for task dependencies when forming a Gantt Chart, or not. If it adds dependencies as task's additional properties, then Gantt chart will be built on that data and it's ok. But if the team plans to build Gantt charts based only on task tree structure, then there is a challenge. See an example of a table to build a Gantt chart given on a wikipedia page. There are activities that have several predecessors (which can be described by a task with several subtasks in a task tree). But at the same time there are several activities that have the same predecessor among their predecessors lists. That can not be visualized using only the Task tree. A use case would be like with tasks like this:
- 1. Purchase the material.
- 2. Analyze and choose the supplier for the material.
- 3. Get enough money to pay
- 4. Pay the rent
- 5. Get enough money to pay
- 6. Remind a customer on his debt and receive the payment.
- 7. Discuss a discount Tasks 3 and 5 should be the same task, which has its own subtasks (like 6). Because several tasks depend on getting the money and getting the money is not the only subtask of each of them. So to correctly display this dependencies either some task should be displayed several times inside the task tree or task tree should not be used as a source to Gantt chart, but additional property for dependencies should be created. My opinion is that there is no way to display a task several times in the task tree without confusing a user. Thus, I would prefer if the task tree would be left alone for task organization (grouping) issues, and for planning process including the view of Gantt charts, separate field "Dependencies" or "Predecessors" would be added to the property of each task. For a more smooth transition to this concept, it is possible to have this property filled with the list of subtasks as a default value. But in prospective a task should be able to have any dependencies including subtasks or not (except the looped dependencies only).

Hi @liad.solenko - could you please give us more details on this feature request? Thanks in advance.
- Do you want to add notes to a project? A organization? Or a task?
- If you want to add notes to a task, what about adding task description?

@peggy hi, no description but notes to myself like Google keep
