#3869: Quire Feedback
Status: To-do
Tag: Spec

Steps to reproduce: 1- Create a sublist named Sublist1 2- Add a task to Sublist1 named Task1 3- Add a child task to Task1 named Task1.1 4- Create another sublist named Sublist2 5- Go to Sublist1 and move Task1.1 to Sublist2 * At this point user expects to remove the relation between Task1.1 and Task1 as they are in different sublists now. 6- Delete Task1 7- Task1.1 is also deleted

  • Completing Task1 also completes Task1.1 (which is in another sub list now and has no parent)
  • There is also no visual clue indicating that Task1.1 is child of Task1 when examining Task1.1 in Sublist2

Expected behaviour:

  • Deleting Task1 should not cause Task1.1 to be deleted.

Note: I have lost many tasks because of this bug without even realizing. They were related some time ago in the past, i had separated them and moved each of them to other sublists. Suddenly they were gone. I had to import an old backup and check one by one to find out what caused this.

Hi @tozlu -

Thank you for your feedback. This isn't a bug. This is actually our current spec. The different Sublists are separate/partial views of the main List view. The tree structure of your task list are still the same in the Sublists. Even if you move a child task from Sublist 1 to Sublist 2, the structure and relationships between tasks will not change. I understand the task relationship between the parent task and children task aren't not clear among different Sublists, which is the main reason that causes your current problem. I have passed this feedback to our team and hopefully we can come up a solution for this.

For now, you can toggle on the Advanced mode for the Subtask icon and parent task path to show, which can be helpful for you to know if a task have subtasks or if belongs to a parent task or not.

How to toggle on the Advanced mode: Hit Ctrl for Windows and Alt for MacOS. (See this guide: https://quire.io/guide/advanced-mode/).

Hi peggy, Even if it is a spec. It needs to have enough visual clues and it needs to be foolproof. Because i have deleted many tasks without even knowing because of this spec. Thanks for the support and great product.
