Set the project settings back to default or copy settings when duplicating or creating a new project from template

Hi @Thomas_ - We have an option where you can duplicate the entire project. However, you can only choose to share the duplicated project with the same members or you can also copy the completed task. The settings of the duplicated project will be back to the default settings.

I would like to be able to create a new project with the settings either set as default settings or using settings from a previous project.

HI there - interested in this, as this is something I would like too. I've just raised my own ticket asking if it would not be possible to create Project templates, so that we can have certain tasks already set up in place. The issue with duplicating an existing project, is it will duplicate it in the current state, and not in its original state, so you end up spending a deal of time going over everything un-completing tasks, changing all the due dates and removing any description notes and attachments.

Hi @Thomas_ - About the 'project default settings' you have mentioned, by this, do you mean when duplicating or creating a new project by the using the template function, you would like an option for changing all the 'task statuses' back to default (To-Do)? Or are there any other settings that you would like to change as well?

@peggy - yes, a template should be just that - a template. A basic layout. When creating a new project it's highly unlikely to already have the descriptions and comments that an existing project has built up, and is not likely to be bound to the same date restrictions.

My suggestion would be in the Project drop down menu to have a "save as template" option (see below), which would work just like saving a template on Microsoft (and other company) products, so you would then name the template and that would enable a library of templates which you could overwrite/amend as needed. There could then also be an option to share your template with the Quire community (companies like Libre Office do this well - see https://extensions.libreoffice.org/ )
