Is there a way to make the timing of one task dependent on the timing of another?
For example: if task B takes 1 week to complete, but can't be started until task A is finished. It would be great to be able to:
(1) Have task B's start date = task A's end date, and task B's end date = task A's end date plus 1 week. This way, if task A's end date gets moved for some reason, the timing of task B would automatically update.
(2) Have the 1 week clock on task B automatically start whenever task A is finished. So the default behavior would be per bullet (1), but if task A is finished ahead of schedule then task B's start and end dates could get moved up accordingly. Ideally we'd be able to choose (whether in our overall settings or on a case by case basis) whether or not to bring the end date for task B forward.
(3) Have task B be given some status other than "Active" (perhaps "planned"?) until task A is finished. That way a user can choose to filter out all tasks that are "planned" but not yet ready to be started (due to dependency on another task that isn't yet complete). This would help the user to see what needs their attention right now, rather than getting lost in the many planned tasks that can't yet be started.
Hi Joshua - Yes, task dependency is in our consideration for our future enhancements. I will pass your examples to our team and note them down internally. I will keep you posted if we have an update regards to this request. Thanks!
