Description
I would like for there to be an additional option in "Filter" dropdown menu for "First level tasks".
Purpose
My team has a lot of tasks. We use pretty much every feature of Quire to stay on top of everything.
One issue that we have when trying to get an overview of everything going on is that when you group tasks by some attribute, whether it be in:
- tree view
- kanban board view
- or timeline view
... all the sub-tasks get split out from their parent tasks, and the number of visible tasks explode, and there's no way to collapse the tasks so that we're only looking at the first level tasks.
Our workaround for this has been a repeating task where, once a week, I:
- go to the "Master List" (that's what I call it)
- open an unfiltered tree view
- collapse all the tasks so that only the first level tasks are showing
- select all the first level tasks
- apply a tag called
first level task
That takes care of making sure that all first level tasks are tagged with first level task. However, I then I have to make sure that those are the only tasks with that tag. So, then I have to:
- Go back to an unfiltered tree view of the "Master List"
- Filter for tasks with the
first level tasktag - Look for tasks that are sub-tasks
- Manually remove the
first level tasktag from each individual sub-task
Once all this is done, then we can filter all our various views so that we are only looking at first level tasks, and not all the sub-tasks.
Hi Wayne - This makes sense. I will let our team know about your feedback. Thank you for such a detailed description of what you are looking for. When we have any updates regarding to this request, I will let you know!

Hi - We have added the new feature - filter by task levels. You can visit the guide for more information. 🎉
This feature is only available in Professional Subscription Plan and higher tiers.
