#5998: Quire Feedback
Status: To-do

tl:dr suggestion: Enable mouse dragging of tasks within same section in Grouped mode.

Explanation: Currently mouse dragging of tasks is very limited, most of the functionality is disabled, I think to prevent making accidental changes to the hierarchy of tasks.

But I think that's too much of a 'butcher method' to solve this problem.

For example, if tasks are grouped by date, they can only be mouse-dragged to other dates, but can't be dragged to become subtasks of other tasks like it is possible in Ungrouped mode, nor can they be dragged to other priorities (if tasks are grouped by two criteria).

There are more things I think can be improved in mouse-dragging to make it more intuitive and effective, but this would be a good start and I don't see a downside to it, it can be implemented.

Video attached to explain the difference between unsorted and sorted mode.

This approach is only problematic when subtasks of different tasks could easily (or even accidentally) be tossed around and create a mess. But if non-root tasks are dragged, there could be a pop-up dialog asking for example: "This task is currently the sub-task of XY. Are you sure you want to change this to Z?"

Even if there's a dialog box, that means a total of 2 user actions, while currently there are more actions needed to achieve the same thing.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. I have passed this on to our team for further review, and I'll keep you informed of any updates.

Additionally, there is a workaround for moving/reordering tasks when they are grouped or sorted. In the Tree view, you can toggle on the Task Bundle feature. When Task Bundle is enabled, you can move tasks within the same or different section. For more detailed information, please see our guide here.

Thank you.

Ok, thank you Golda, nice to know that. I'm currently using the free option so I can't try it for now.
