Hey!
Quire is a great tool in many aspects 👍
However, the coupling of statuses to pre-set progress-percentages is a pain in the back many times :-(
It has an advantage when the steps (aka statuses) of the work are exclusively following each other in one way during the implementation.
It does not work when the workflow has loops or branches. It's an obstacle! Most of the cases in life fall in this category, imho. E.g. we work on a feature and it's "in-progress" and 70% this week and 80% next week, however we need to "wait for input" the next-next week and it's still 80%.
The first category is when the use-case is simple (or over simplified).
Please, make it an option in settings of the project, if the coupling feature is needed.
Although I considered to subscribe for a payed tire, this feature prohibited me to start to use quire after I tested it - it's a no-go.
The best would be that - beside the above - also 2-layer (or level) statuses are allowed.
I came back to see if there was any progress on this - it's a deal breaker in my case.
It's unfortunate 'cause I find Quire very good in e.g. usability.

Hello Golda,
My suggestion - and need - is to "decouple" the percentage and the status.
Usually, in my scenarios I don't need the same percentage for more statuses. Though, it happens sometimes.
Usually, I need to adjust the percentage while the task is in the same status - hence the "decoupling".
I understand your point that there are cases when the set status = percentage is useful. However, Life is more colourful than that :-) Please, add an option per project / list if the Owner wants that coupling!
Using other custom fields, like tags and percentage, is possible, of course. BUT it looses some comfort that's already built in to Quire - I'd need to 're-program' that somehow (however I want to use what's already available).
I don't recall any other project / task management software introducing this type of RESTRICTION.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that your workflow requires more flexibility between task status and progress percentage.
At the moment, status and progress are linked by design. However, you can use Custom Fields to achieve the flexibility you're looking for. For example:
- You may create a Selection-type Custom Field to define your own workflow stages independent of the default status.
- Or you can create a Number-type Custom Field and set the format to percentage, allowing you to manually adjust progress regardless of the task status.
This way, you can define and update the percentage freely without it being tied to the preset status values.
We understand this may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it can serve as a practical workaround based on your needs. For more details about Custom Fields, please refer to this guide. Thank you.

Hi, Thank you for sharing your suggestions! Currently, our system does not allow creating a status with the same progress percentage as an existing one, except for 100% progress.
If you need to create another status with the same progress percentage, you can do so by creating a tag or a custom field selection type. This workaround will help you track the progress like with a status.
Please visit our guide about tags and custom fields for more details. Thank you.
