For single-man projects it'd be very convenient to set someone (myself, for example) as the default assignee so that it is defined automatically every time a new task is created. I am aware that I can set an assignee to several tasks simultaneously, but that doesn't help much if I add one or two tasks every day.
Hi Yanis, Here is something that should help: When you add a new task, you can type for example @Yanis to assign the task to yourself (more here).

And fyi, when a task is assigned to you, subtasks you add under it will automatically be assigned to you.

Thanks, I know that I can assign someone to a task inline using "@", but it is just another form of repetitive and redundant action I'd like to get rid of :-)

Hello Crystal, this is an interesting point you made. Does this also hold true: if someone else assigns a task to me, then if they add a sub-task to that task, the subtask then also gets assigned to me? @inego , if the above statement is confirmed by @crystal , would that solve your request?

@crystal , Thanks very much for the confirmation! @inego , I see what you are saying. Interesting problem. In general being able to assign project default behavior would be neat. Still, the @seems pretty fast!

Hey @inego, just thought of something regarding "default project behavior". Check out this post. Essentially, the gentleman there was wanting a way to assign default task descriptions that varied according to project.
But I had a different idea. What if in the project settings itself, you could simply select a task as your default template for that project!!! Essentially, it is nothing more than simply duplicating a task that is saved in the project, and blanking out the name.
For your use case, you would make a task called "template" and assign the task to yourself, and then in the project settings, select the task named "template" as your project's template task. From then on, whenever you create a new task, it would always have you as the assignee. Seems simple enough.
For my use case, I would keep assignee's blank and add a custom description.
@Crystal, I hope this doesn't come across as "why make this feature when all the user needs to do is right click and copy and paste the task". Because that would be a valid point! Nevertheless, it is much slicker to be able to set a task as the default task.
Benefit: if the user is deep down in a task tree, then it would be nice to be able to not have to scroll up to find my template just to copy/paste it.

Hi Matthew, Yes, if someone assigns a task to you, then subtasks added under it will automatically be assigned to you. 😃

@mbilliodeaux Yes, it would solve the request for subtasks of a single root task. But if my project has a lot of shallow tasks, I still have to assign myself every time. The only workaround there is is to make a dummy single root task for the project and add all real root tasks as its children, but it's kind of strange.
Yanis Batura, 2017年9月29日
Hi @mbilliodeaux, yes, this will seem to work. Although not as obvious as it could for someone who wanted to simply assign a default person automatically 😃

Hi Yanis, I see. Let us think about it!
