#3031: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed
Tag: Resolved

Heys,

I really like the task list and integration to a Kanban board - where I struggle is that the tasks on the Kanban board are no longer related to the parent task which makes the tasks out of context. A simple fix may be to have the parent name before the new task name on the Kanban board

I have been rethinking my request for nested sub-tasks on a Kanban view.

I think you are correct to handle them as separate entities that can move through the workflow independent of the parent task or the other sub-tasks.

I would like the identification of the parent task to be shown by default on the sub-task and not by a keyboard shortcut or allow us to set that default at the project level.

I would like to to see the list of sub-tasks and their status of each shown on the parent task (like the way TickTick shows sub-tasks). This list should be able to be collapsed / expanded or folded in/ out of view

I should not be able to complete the parent task unless all the sub-tasks are complete or if I do I should be warned that doing so will cause all incomplete sub-tasks to be automatically completed by Quire.

Completing all sub-tasks should trigger an option to automatically complete the parent task.

@peggy I know that this is a year on from the original post - however, I'd also like to add a request to show sub-tasks more effectively. The advanced mode is better than nothing but if you look at how apps like TickTick handle subtasks in a kanban view

hey @stefan-53 , I guess I had a similar feature request here #2555 , for a direct relation between tasklist and kanban board - let's hope it will get some traction!

I agree. Kanban is confusing when we have subtasks. Adding subtasks means creating a WBS with at least 2 subtasks (having just one subtask doesn't make sense). When the subtasks are completed then we can confirm the end of the parent task. Kanban should focus only on the peripheral subtasks of the entire project, with clearly a visual reference to the parent task.

Hi MM - Thank you for your feedback. Some of the users have brought up a solution which they wish the subtasks are nested under the parent tasks. You can see this thread for the discussion. Do you think this solution will be more helpful? Or are there any other suggestions you have in mind? Please feel free to share some visual examples with us! Thanks!

⭐️ We have merged your feedback thread with #4175 to consolidate all similar feedback on one main thread. You may refer to that thread for more updates.

Hi @stefan-53 , have you tried toggling on the Advanced mode? This way you would be able to see the parent task's name above the task name. Hit Ctrl or Alt for Mac to toggle on Advanced mode.

Hi all! We have introduced a new feature called Task Bundle, which allows you to group the subtasks under their parent tasks so the task hierarchy will be preserved as it is. Check out this blog post for more information! 😃

Note: This feature is only available for Professional, Premium and Enterprise subscription.
