Pin Quire to Your Smartphone’s Home Screen

A native mobile app is what many users have been asking us about and something we are busy working on. Quire may only be desktop based, but it works great on smartphone or tablet’s browser as well. (We've since shipped native apps for both iOS and Android.)

Here is a way to quickly access Quire whenever and wherever you want: add it to your iOS and Android devices’ home screen. In this blog post, we did it on an iPhone 6 and an LG smartphone, and it was incredibly easy!

Your phone's home screen is prime real estate. Statista reports that mobile devices now drive the majority of the world's web traffic, so a one-tap Quire icon there saves you the daily fumble through a browser.

How do you add Quire to your iPhone home screen?

1. Launch the Safari browser and navigate to Quire website.

1. Tap the Share button (the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward) in the browser’s menu bar.

1. Tap the “Add to Home Screen” icon at the bottom of the screen.

1. Tap “Add” on the upper-right of the screen.

How do you add Quire to your Android home screen?

1. Launch the Chrome browser and navigate to Quire website.

1. Tap the menu icon (that looks like 3 vertical dots) on the upper-right of the screen.

1. Tap “Add to Home screen.”

1. Tap “Add” in the dialogue.

Quire icon will appear on your home screen like this:

It does not matter if it is on an iPhone or an Android phone, Quire will not only have the look and feel of a native app, it will also work like one so no more switching between web pages!

Two platforms, same idea. Here is the short version.

Is this the same as a native app? Not quite, but for a lot of people it is close enough. You get a Quire icon on your home screen, it opens straight to your workspace, and you skip the daily ritual of opening a browser and typing the address. If you live on your phone during the day, that is a few seconds saved every single time, and a lot fewer "where did I put that tab" moments. Native iOS and Android apps exist now too, but the home-screen shortcut still works if that is your preference.
