#17: Quire Feedback
Status: Completed

Is there an estimation of the time that the integration with gmail will be available?

Created by Dimitrios Spirou Apr 25, 2015

Hi Matt, Got it. Integration is not our focus right now, but when we come up with something I'll let you know.

Yes, was looking for something similar...

Lorenzo Beretta, May 6, 2020

This long awaited feature finally arrived for Quire. Thank you. Now some smaller functions would be nice to make it more intuitive:

  1. Keyboard Shortcut (e.g. Ctrl+Q or similar would be nice) to create a taks out of a selected email
  2. Include "Make Quire task" function in Right-click on email dropdown gmail menu
  3. Ability to make multiple tasks from multiple selected emails
  4. Have the "Create task" button on top, so we dont have to scroll down though the entire email to make a task.

Thx, Peter

Hi Dimitrios, Thanks so much for the detailed description on what you're looking for in a Gmail integration. When we do commence work on this integration, we'd love to get your input.

much appreciated, Lance

Hi Dimitrios,

What's your expectations on this Gmail integration? Some concrete use cases would help us figuring out exactly what you want.

Thanks.

Hi Lance, searching on the Internet I found this... http://www.centask.com/working-with-gmail-video/ which is a nice idea. Another nice idea is implemented by Moo.do.

According to my perception and reqs, the main purpose of integration is to relate mails with specific tasks / subtasks etc. This can be implemented either directly while someone is reading an email (obviously through the Gmail's interface ...SOS.. THE VIEW WITH THE PREVIEW PANE!!!!!! IS A MUST to be supported) or if the user "specify" (eg by labelling) which mail should be "sent" at the "inbox" of Quire (as a link only or/and with the content of the mail including attachments) and then "relate" mails with specific subtasks. Personally, I think that the first solution is the best one because it offers a direct "one step" action. In this case, I can imagine to be able to do it either by drag and drop (quire should live in the sidebar of gmail or gmail should live in Quire) either by pressing a "button" in gmail that will "direct me" to the task I want the mail to be related (either by creating a new subtask or adding a new comment...both with the link to the mail).

Since I have used so many apps in the past, I can say that there are many ideas out there (ToDoist, Wunderlist, AnyDo etc) that do something similar but not as good as it should be....also Moodo is a nice implementation but it allows only tasks to be created....that means that if I have a task (imposed by a mail) and I reply to that mail, I need also the ability to relate my reply with the task (probably as a comment inside the task)....

Unfortunately, using this thread it is not easy to transfer you all the different ideas and also all the cases that I believe that a GOOD INTEGRATION should address...at least I hope I provided you with some "food for thought"...

PS For the moment, manual copy paste of the unique ID of each mail I want to relate to a task/ subtask, is the solution I use....

Hi @crystal gmail just released dynamic emails with AMP https://developers.google.com/gmail/ampemail/ maybe it could be used to enable direct interactions with tasks, not needing to click on links. thanks,

Hi Admin, We are considering to let users forward their emails to a certain Quire email address so they become tasks. For now, you can try copy & paste an email in Gmail to Quire so it becomes task.

Crystal, Feb 1, 2018

Hi everyone- With Quire Gmail Add-on, you can now add a task directly from your email to your Quire project, assign responsibility, set due dates, add tags. 🥳

Visit our blog for more details: https://quire.io/blog/p/gmail-add-on.html

+1 on this. My personal needs:

  1. Attach Quire/task to Gmail thread
  2. Create Quire/task from new Gmail/email

Admin, Jan 31, 2018

+1 on this

Lorenzo Beretta, May 3, 2020

+1 on this, thanks

Timothy Read, Mar 29, 2020

+1 this. At the moment, I copy/paste links to gmail.

Matthew James Davis, Sep 28, 2015

Hi José, Thanks for this suggestion, I will pass it to our team!

Peggy, Apr 8, 2019

Hi Admin, Got it.

Crystal, Feb 2, 2018

@crystal

yes, email2task would be a good start

syntax sample:

email subject: "Will become task title" to email address: thu5pm@quire.io from email address: <will indicate which user/list>

Admin, Feb 1, 2018

Hoi,

I was just looking for a way to put emails into my Quire todo list. Is there an official function now other than copy&paste? thx

Peter Hintze, Dec 19, 2019

@l.beretta - are you looking for something like a Gmail add-on? At this moment, we don't have a Gmail add-on yet.

Peggy, May 5, 2020

Alternative: a mail box that can accept email tasks and filter/process them based on parsing the subject line. (See clickup or ticktick for good implementation examples.)
