Hi I have an idea: when you complete a subtask, the parent task's status should automatically change to "in progress". It would be very helpful to see which big tasks actually are in progress. That's super motivating, and would save lots of time. Of course there could be an option to turn it off in settings. Please consider this. Love
Hi Peggy, just my two cents, I like the current behavior.
If you do change this, please make it an option so users can choose what suits them. Thanks!

@cynk7 - we treat the parent task and its subtasks separately as their own individual tasks, this way it gives users more flexibility when it comes to setting the task's status.
One slight concern for this feature request: what if you have multiple levels of subtasks? If I have completed my sub-sub task, do both my parent task and subtask automatically change to In Progress?
- Parent Task (change to In Progress?)
- Subtask (change to In Progress?)
- Sub sub task (√ mark as complete)
- Subtask (change to In Progress?)
Looking forward to hear your idea.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant! I'm glad you've written back 😊. I was thinking of it as a great automation feature. I love Quire for its nested tasks and the ability to break my big goals into small things that I can actually do. In my opinion, it would be a very motivating form of visual feedback, because you could see that even completing this small task took you one step closer towards your big goal. I know that for some people it could be annoying, so that's where the option to turn it off comes in 😉, but I'm sure lots of people , including me, would find it useful and super encouraging.

Have to say I think this is a great and very logical idea (but again for those less keen have the option to disable).

Hi everyone - Just a small update: We are thinking to solve this request with IFTTT/Automation. We haven't start to work on IFTTT/Automation yet, but if it's implemented in the future, we hope that this request might can be resolved using that. We will keep you updated if we have more news.
